How can WWE match what they did with Wrestlemania weekend this year, in Houston next year? Houston doesn't have theme parks to add to the experience. I liked the fan stuff during WM, but without it being in the Universal park, it would take maybe 10 minutes to do everything they had to do. What is in Houston that would make people want to come for Wrestlemania WEEKEND and not just the Sunday show?
Houston, we have a problem? Not quite. Beyond whatever WWE is planning for that weekend, there are a number of places to visit in Houston, including the Space Center, the downtown Aquarium, and several museums. There is, sadly, no theme park as Six Flags Astroworld closed in 2005.
Is it just me or did they take a really sexy and beautiful women in Nattie Neidhart and make her far to.......well manly looking? I've seen her in other promotions and she was hot, but when she came out at Smackdown I thought it was Beth Phoenix at first. Why make her so butch looking? I've noticed a trend where the real female wrestlers are made to be very unsexy, and the eye candy is just that. With Mickie James being the exception in the real female wrestlers section. Why?
I agree with you that Neidhart is far sexier than her WWE debut made her look, but for a different reason. My belief is that WWE likely dressed her down so she didn't get a big babyface pop for being a hottie, since she was laying out the top babyface Diva on the Smackdown brand in Michelle McCool. We'll have to wait and see how she appears as she makes more appearances before we can cast blame on creative.
Do you think the WWE is hurting themselves by not having more meet and greet events with the wrestlers on their shows? WM weekend went off like gangbusters and although the Sunday show was great, meeting the superstars was the best part. Why doesn't WWE do more of this before or after shows? Why don't they have a set thing where people can come and meet the wrestlers? If they do, why don't they advertise it more? For example, say they have a show at the AAA in Miami. Why not advertise that 3 hours before the show they will have an autograph signing or something for the fans? Didn't they used to do stuff like that before and after shows in wrestling?
Part of it is logistics and timing. When you have a troupe of performers on the road, the last thing you really need to do is add more events to their schedules. Wrestlemania week, where the performers are all there for days on end on WWE's dime (the company picks up the hotel bill for Wrestlemania week so they can lock everyone down in one hotel), is an entirely different animal. While the meet and greets do add a nice intimate chance for fans to meet their favorites, WWE adding it to every show means they have more in the way of planning out security, timing, set up, etc. I don't see it happening anytime soon.
Have you heard when Ron Killings will make his debut on WWE television?
Any
idea on what brand he will be on?
Ron Killings recently worked a pair of dark matches. Beyond that, no word. He isn't training in FCW as of this writing.
During the 80's the WWE, then WWF, became owners of Georgia Championship Wrestling. When did they purchase it? Do they still own the rights to it?
Vince McMahon purchased the majority of the Georgia Championship Wrestling stock in the early 1980s as part of their national expansion. Ole Anderson and Jack Brisco both go into their own versions of the timeline in their respective books. I believe whatever the tape library consisted of is actually in Ole's possession, but he has no interest in releasing them because he doesn't have the contractual rights to the talent on the footage and doesn't want to chance a lawsuit. Since Ole has a deep seeded hatred for all things McMahon, I don't see him selling the tapes to the company either.
