Back in the late 80s and early 90s, there were two great WWF arcade games, Superstars and Wrestlefest. My question is: Did Vince McMahon and/or Hulk Hogan have any say in the creative direction of these games? In both games, Hulk Hogan is a regular character, while Ted DiBiase, Andre the Giant, and The Legion of Doom are the "champions" of their respective games. I know it is sounds weird, but Hogan's ego is so big that one would think he would make sure he is THE guy to beat in each game.
Nope, Hogan didn't have a say in the game, he just cashed his check from it! Seriously, Hogan had no say over who was presented as the champion in a video game. In truth, I think they purposely didn't make Hogan the champion so that those who played the game could use Hulk as their character to "win the title".
How does a wrestler decide what finisher to use? Obviously their physical ability has a lot to do with it (i.e. you probably won't see Rey Mysterio using a chokeslam, nor would you probably see Kane doing the 619), but is it up to the wrestler or does management decide they are going to use the move? Also, are some top level wrestlers (like in WWE for example) particularly protective about their finisher? I understand that some wrestlers are able to use the same finisher (The Chokeslam is/was used by Undertaker, Kane, Big Show, Hurricane and Khali, and the Swanton Bomb is used by Jeff Hardy and Mr. Kennedy now). Not trying to point fingers, but I do remember CM Punk using his "Pepsi Plunge" (or top rope "Pedigree") before coming to the WWE, and all of a sudden he doesn't use it. Why is that?
In most cases, a wrestler will come up with a finisher, and WWE management will "approve it". If they feel the finisher is weak, they will look to have the wrestler use something else. Obviously, when a top wrestler is closely identified with a move (like Triple H with the Pedigree) they will discourage wrestlers from using it as a finisher.
Who played RoboCop, when he "busted" Sting out of the cage at Capital Combat (and while we're on the subject, has Sting ever offered his opinion on the whole angle, looking back at it?)?
I may be wrong, but I believe it was just a hired stuntman in the outfit. It certainly wasn't Peter Weller! I can't recall a specific interview with Sting discussing RoboCop, but I have yet to meet anyone who thought it was a good idea.
Could you see Rey Mysterio challenging Chavo Guerrero for the ECW World Title at WrestleMania 24???
From what I understand, Rey isn't nearly healthy enough to be wrestling a full match, so I highly doubt they would throw him in the battle royale and then a singles match on top of that.
I was just wondering if you guys had heard any updates on Roddy Piper. Is he in good health & will he be making an appearance at SportsEntertainmentMania?
From what I understand, the Hot Rod is doing very well, although I haven't heard of any plans to have him appear at Wrestlemania. Given his close friendship with Ric Flair, I would not be surprised to see him in attendance at the Hall Of Fame.
