PWINSIDER Q&A: FABULOUS FREEBIRDS, VICTORIA, WWE HALL OF FAME AND MORE

Answered: 2/27

I have been reading where WWE's Victoria has been losing matches recently to both Kelly Kelly and Michelle McCool. Two women with far, far less wrestling experience than her.  This reminds me when Nora Greenwald, before she departed the WWE, did jobs for both Christy Hemme and Stacy Keibler. Both women who didn't have the experience and skill to be wrestlers defeating a seasoned pro. It happened to Nora Greenwald and now the indignity is being displayed toward Victoria. Why? What has she done to deserve such treatment?

It's not really a case of Victoria being punished or anything like that. For the past two years, actually even longer, Victoria's role in the company has been to make lesser workers and WWE's "flavor of the month" Divas look better than they are.  Would I like to see Victoria pushed as a top star instead of carrying others?  Sure, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Throughout the history of sporting events fights between opposing teams have unfortunately taken place. Football, Baseball, Basketball and Soccer have all experienced brawls on their respected fields of battle. To your knowledge, has a fight between fans and wrestlers ever taken place within the United States resulting in police being brought in?

Not any kind of full scale riot, but usually when a wrestler and a fan get into an altercation, if a police officer is present, he gets involved and does his job as he would if any kind of fight were taking place in a public place. Most of the time, arena security is first on the scene to defuse any situations.

Why is it that Toots Mondt isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame? From what I've read, Mondt is just as important to the evolution of Capitol into the World Wide Wrestling Federation.

Toots belongs in there as much as anyone, but to be honest, there's a laundry list of people, both wrestlers and behind-the-scenes personnel, who haven't been inducted into the Hall Of Fame.  Toots not being inducted could easily be because WWE doesn't think today's audience will care about it, or they aren't in contact with any living relatives to accept the award.

After watching The Fabulous Freebirds compete in World Class on WWE 24/7, I was wondering about their lineup changes. Why did Terry Gordy leave (to be replaced by Jimmy Garvin) and where did he go? Did the Hayes-Gordy pairing ever return?

Terry Gordy worked full-time in Japan for All Japan Pro Wrestling, most notably in successful tag teams with Stan Hansen and Steve Williams.  When Hayes and Garvin (who was a longtime friend and always seen as the "fourth Freebird") were on top of the WCW tag team scene in 1989, Gordy was teaming with Stan Hansen in Japan.  Gordy did come back and work with Hayes & Garvin now and then, but the glory era of the Freebirds was over by that point.

Do you think Tommy Dreamer and Nunzio could face suspension or a release for appearing at TNA's NYC debut?

Nope.  I don't think certain people within WWE are happy over their going to the TNA show becoming publicized on the net, but I don't expect any suspension for them.
