PWINSIDER Q&A: WWE SPINNER BELT, LASHLEY, BATTLE BOWL AND MORE

Looking at Randy Orton’s BIO on www.com (http://www.wwe.com/superstars/raw/randyorton/bio/) the spinner belt he holds has a HHH name tag!  H never held the spinner.  The Royal Rumble page that shows the preview of his match with Jeff Hardy also shows him with this mysterious belt.  Is it in H’s contract that all belts must bear his name when they are off-camera and someone forgot to switch them for the photo shoot?

Actually, Triple H did hold the spinner belt, very briefly at No Mercy, and that is when they put his name plate on it.  Now, you could wonder why they had a Triple H nameplate ready for the belt on such short notice, but I think you know the answer to that one.

Who is on the cover of the WWE Anthology that came out in 2002?  I can't figure it out for the life of me.

I believe that is Eddie Guerrero, although I could be wrong. Obviously, the cover was designed so you couldn't identify the figure in the glow of the pyro.

Whatever happened to Bobby Lashley? What is his injury update?

From what I understand, Lashley is expected back in the ring before Wrestlemania, so I would expect to see his return soon, unless there is a change in plans.

I’m watching Starrcade ’92 on WWE 24/7 and they have the finals of the King Of Cable tournament & also the Battle Bowl going on at the same time. What was the point of either of these? I can remember DDP having the Battle Bowl ring & defending it, but didn’t they have enough titles to defend on their shows already? Did these random tournaments actually lead anywhere?

I agree, the tournaments made little sense.  I think it was pretty much WCW trying to emulate WWE by having "specialty" shows, since WWE had success with the Survivor Series and Royal Rumble formats.  Obviously, Battle Bowl didn't work as well.

And the 2nd part is that with the Battle Bowl “random” tag matches, why did they pick the same guys who already have matches booked for the night? I mean we have Vader & Sting tagging together, then they’re in the final match for the King Of Cable and then they’re in the final Battle Royale (a la Buck) for the Battle Bowl ring. Also in similar situations are The Great Muta, Flying Brian Pillman, Barry Windham & Dr. Death. Why didn’t they use more of the guys who were waiting in the back to have their names called for the Battle Bowl actually do more than just dress for the show & sit in the back?

I never quite understood the thinking behind that either.  Sure, it was cool to see the top wrestlers more than once, but it seems including more varied talent (and as you mentioned, a lot of guys were there that did nothing but sit in the back) would have made for a stronger show.
