Hey guys, love the site, read it everyday. I was looking on Youtube the other day and I came across an old match on Velocity with John Cena Vs Bryan Danielson. I was wondering if Bryan Danielson was ever with the WWE and if he was why didn't they keep him? He looked great in the match and Cena didn't look too bad either.
Bryan Danielson was under a developmental deal very early in his career when WWF had a territory based out of Memphis Wrestling, but never made it to the main roster. He's made enhancement appearances over the years but was never signed. It may have been a situation where the company didn't have anything for someone of his look and style or Danielson simply deciding to continue his journeyman ways on the international scene before settling into a contract situation.
What has Josh Mathews been up to? Last I saw of him, he was being shot by Tim White, and that was it. Is he even with WWE anymore?
Matthews is still with the company and can be seen hosting the 30 minute taped PPV pre-game shows every month on your PPV barker channel.
Do you think we are ever going to get a real explanation of the save_us.222 videos? Like an article on wwe.com or something like that where they show us all the clues in the videos and what they were really referencing? Of course its always possible that we put way too much thought into it, but I, for one, would like to know where we were right and where we were looking too hard.
No, the explanation was Chris Jericho is back. The end. That's how WWE sees it.
First off, I'm very, very excited to attend my first Rumble (even if I did sleep through my alarm, woke up at 10:03, and got crappy tickets in the 400 "MSG Ring" around the top- at least I'm going, right?). Anyway I'm a little confused. The Raw Main Event will be Jeff Hardy vs Orton and the SD main event will be Edge vs the winner of the "Beat the Clock" gauntlet on tomorrow's show. That being said..........where does that leave the winner of the Rumble? No offense to ECW, but I doubt the winner would want to challenge for that title.........unless one of the spots in the Rumble is a surprise return for RVD? (That's my fantasy booking, anyway. I'm an admitted RVD mark.) Or do you think they're just going to throw the winner into a 3 way match for one of the other 2 titles? That would make me gag. I REALLY hope to never see another 3 way main event title match @ Mania. What do you guys think?
I think you are confusing the stipulations. The winner of the Rumble will challenge for his respective brand's World title at Wrestlemania, so the title matches at the PPV have no bearing on the Mania show.
I was looking over some ring results from the old WWWF, I noticed that in several cards, the last match had so and so wrestled to a "curfew draw", is there any particular reason why some shows had curfews? This seemed to happen a lot at the Madison Square Garden venue. I would think a match ending in this manner would have upset a lot of fans in attendance, especially if it was a World title match.
During that era, the athletic commission in New York would legitimately enforce a curfew for events, which I believe was 11 PM. If a match hit that point, the commission called for it to end. While you would think the audience would be upset, since it was a legitimate rule and the audience knew it, it was never an issue. Promoters could book challengers into matches with the champion, go to a curfew draw and have an issue to come back with because the challenger "almost had" the win but ran out of time.
