Recently on an audio show by Mike and Les they were saying that a wrestler should not respond to people yelling "boring!" and should instead continue with their match as planned and try to bring the crowd into it but I have also heard other wrestlers say that it is important not to rigidly plan matches but instead to listen to the crowd and adjust your match on the fly to accommodate the paying public. Which approach is correct?
You are confusing two issues. If wrestlers are working a hold and the crowd is chanting "Boring" that doesn't mean the wrestlers should immediately give up on the hold and sprint into 10,000 highspots. They should continue with their planned match. That said, matches shouldn't be planned, start to finish, spot to spot, in my opinion. If something happens that causes the crowd to react a certain way, it makes sense to play off of it. Boring chants are not part of that list.
Jerry and Jeff did indeed found TNA and later sold the majority ownership to Panda Energy. Jerry brought current WWE developmental talent Vladimir Kozlov to WWE and that meeting, which was seen by those in TNA as a major slap in the face by Jarrett, who at the time, was still working backstage, led to his exodus from the company. Sadly, he and Jeff have an estranged relationship as well.
Recently, in a Smackdown dark match, Steve Corino had a match with Kofi Kingston, and I've heard rumors that he was being considered a possible role as an agent. This had me thinking, with JBL now gone as an announcer, and a possible offer for a job in the company made to Corino, could you see WWE possibly putting him in the spot of either ECW or Smackdown?
Being that Jonathan Coachman was made the new Smackdown announcer, no. Corino did have several tryouts in 2001 as an announcer, but the company decided not to bring him in. I haven't heard that he will be brought into the company or not in 2008, although he has a good mind for the business and could easily contribute.
How is it that when Kurt Angle was coming in to TNA that TNA kept that as a suprise, but when WWE wants to keep Chris Jehrico coming back a surprise they complain that it gets leaked that he's coming back? Couldn't WWE do the same thing that TNA did which was tell only certain people that he was coming in to make sure that something like that doesn't get leaked out?
In the case of TNA, Dixie Carter made the deal and told possibly four people, all of whom were under the threat of death if they were told. The creative team outside of Jeff Jarrett weren't even told. TNA also rented a warehouse and used an outside production crew, which signed disclosure agreements, to keep it quiet. In WWE, where the company as a whole is a much larger monster, it's harder because they have to keep their merchandising, licensing, magazine and other arms in the loop so everyone is on the same page. Plus, I honestly think WWE underestimated that fans would realize what the video was for immediately. I had emails literally minutes after the first broadcast excited that it was Chris Jericho returning and then WWE built it for weeks on their TV. In TNA's case, they simply made a statement on their website and then waited.
In the case of Carlito, they sure did, since that hair was a HUGE part of his persona and look (and he showed up with a drastic change), but after the Vince McMahon-Donald Trump angle, which was less than a year ago, they probably didn't want to repeat the angle so soon. In the case of others, Jericho cut his hair while away from the company and the others were such minor changes, it wouldn't have mattered. Edge cutting a few inches wouldn't have been worth such a stip and shaving his head would totally destroy his look.
