I just read the comments made by Andrew "Test" Martin about his upcoming retirement. Who does this guy think he is? Problem is he didn't kiss enough ass? No! Problem is he was a very mediocre wrestler with very little charisma. I'm sure legions of fans around the world are crying right now about this *gasp* awful news. Your thoughts?
I agree with you. He was a mediocre talent that got a push early on because he had a lot of size and was friends with Shane McMahon. He was never a a very good worker and didn't ever show much personality or interview aptitude. Why he thinks he should have gotten more than he did out of WWE is beyond me. I personally think he is speaking out of his rear end when he whines about not getting more opportunities in the business. He got more than his fair share.
I've been thinking about the whole announcer switch up with JBL coming back to RAW and Tazz replacing JBL on Smackdown. Here's what I was thinking. I have no idea who they are going to pair with Joey Styles on ECW, but to me, I could care less, as Styles is just a horrible announcer. I know some people dislike Michael Cole, but I feel that if he is paired with a good announcer, he does work semi-good, and he could improve. I was thinking move Jerry Lawler to Smackdown, and give him some new ground to announce. I think Michael Cole could work well with Lawler, and they would make an interesting tag team. And move Tazz to RAW with JR. I remember hearing maybe one or two matches called with JR and Tazz, and they're amazing as an announce team. Even if the match is horrible, those two could bring some light to it, and make it somewhat interesting. So, what do you think? Do you think WWE would ever split up their Hall of Fame announce team?
To answer your last question first, I think Lawler and Ross are the voices of Raw so that isn't in play. The two like working together and Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn like Lawler in the color position. I think JR and Tazz would make for a great team and Lawler and Cole would be fine too. But honestly, I think Tazz and Cole were a great team a few years ago and I would put them back together and let them pick up where they left off. If it were up to me, I would leave Ross and Lawler alone and team Joey Styles with Matt Striker. Of course, you will find out what WWE decided to do later this week.
With the elimination chamber match at No Way Out being advertised with Raw-guys is it a 100% fact, that the winner of the 2008 Royal Rumble comes from SmackDown!???
A 100% fact? In WWE? From WWE creative? No, I would not say that. A lot can happen between then and WrestleMania.
I noticed that Mr. Kennedy has a hard time impressing observers lately while MVP get praised for his work. My question is: How can anyone compare the two guys? For one, MVP is on Friday Night SmackDown!, where you can better matches as on WWE RAW, where the focus is on the entertainment part. Also, isn't it harder to shine with using a more tactical style, while MVP using a more technician style. I loved how Kennedy worked Shawn Michaels's body part at Armageddon with little, but effective moves and also selling his hand injury during the match - so the finish was absolutely perfect.
First off, you can compare them because they are both wrestlers in a similar situations. They are young guys who were given a big push over the last year in hopes of them rising to the next level. While Smackdown is a more wrestling based show, it's still very obvious that Kennedy has dropped the ball recently not only in his Raw matches but also his bouts on PPV, where the whole idea is to wrestle. It's clear to a lot of people that Kennedy has not lived up to his push this year while MVP has made the most of his opportunity and has elevated himself. It's that simple.
It's been reported a couple of times that Stephanie McMahon was "furious" over word getting out that the "Save Us" promos were for Jericho. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the discovery process the other way around, with the Internet fans dissecting the very first video and coming to conclusion that it was for Jericho, and THEN it was confirmed to be true? If she has anyone to blame, it's herself for still thinking the Internet fans would be stupid enough to not put all the clues together so fast.
Who knows how mad she really was or wasn't. What I know to be true is that she and creative were mad when confirmation that Jericho would fill that role was reported, so that isn't the internet fans making the story. I think what it comes down to is that WWE wanted people to speculate on who it would be but they didn't want it to actually be confirmed.
