With the release of the Mitchell report, lots of people are drawing comparison between steroids in Baseball and steroids in wrestling. Wouldn't it be more accurate to compare steroids in wrestling with, say, anorexia in teen starlets? I mean In baseball steroids help give you a faster pitch, a stronger hit, in wrestling, it doesn't improve your ability just your appearance (which, being entertainment, is important), and teen starlets develop anorexia to take short cuts to looking thinner, while not improving their abilities in their chosen field (whether acting, modeling, singing or whatever). If people fixate on comparing the steroid use in wrestling to steroids being used to give sporting/athletic advantage aren't they going to miss the point and not actually solve or at least alleviate the problem?
I agree with your point that in wrestling, steroids are being used for the "look" it can help wrestlers achieve, not the athletic benefits. That said, I don't think it matters why the person is taking them, the problem is still that they are being taken and abused, and are endangering the health of those that use them.
I was watching the WrestleMania III special edition DVD and I was reminded of a weird bit during the show where Jesse Ventura was introduced to the crowd in the ring prior to the 6-man tag team match with the Hart Foundation & Danny Davis vs the British Bulldogs & Tito Santana. As the match was getting started, we see Jesse carrying Matilda, the Bulldogs' mascot, back to the locker room area. Was there a story behind the scenes as to why this happened? Was it some kind of rib or something?
No rib, at least that I know if. I think it was just a humorous way to have Ventura exit and get the dog away from ringside.
Who wrote and sang Trish Stratus' entrance theme, "Keys to the City"?
It was sung by Lil Kim, who also wrote the lyrics. I believe WWE music guru Jim Johnston wrote the music.
Is Jeff Jarrett done as an active wrestler in, or is he taking time off to run his front office duties and writing duties? If he is done, will he come back on TNA TV playing some other role? He hasn't even been on TV or mentioned in months.Jeff Jarrett has decided, for the time being, to stick to his behind-the-scenes role with TNA and not be an active performer. That said, I don't think he is done as an in-ring worker and will be back at some point. When that point is, only he knows.
With the way that the angle was set up. Do you guys have the feeling that Ric Flair's possible Wrestlemania opponent is going to be none other than Vince McMahon? And he will be the one to retire Ric Flair. Considering the number of classy ways to send out the Nature Boy this is the WWE we are talking about here. I just have a feeling at some point Vince will be one of Flair's final opponents. Any thoughts on this?
I absolutely, 100% could see Vince McMahon wrestling Flair in an attempt to "retire him myself". I could even see them doing the match at Wrestlemania. Not saying I necessarily want to see it, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
