PWINSIDER Q&A: FREEBIRDS IN WWF, JEFF HARDY, JBL AND MORE

Hey guys with Jeff Hardy's current push it got me thinking. If Jeff was to win the title at the Rumble would he be the only true Grandslam champion being the only man to hold the WWE World Title, Intercontinental title, European title and Tag titles, as well as the Hardcore and Light Heavyweight titles? Has any other Grandslam champ held the Light Heavyweight title?

Before even answering the question, we should point out that the term "Grandslam Champion" is very much open to interpretation, since obviously certain titles only existed for short periods of time.  Jeff Hardy would be in a club all his own if he held the WWE Title, as no WWE Champion has held the Intercontinental, European, Raw Tag Team, Hardcore and Light Heavyweight Titles as well.

Recently I was looking around YouTube and found a video in which the Freedbirds worked for the WWF in 1984 in a match at the Philadelphia Spectrum. It looked like a very cool intro in which the Freedbirds exited a limo and the cameras followed them all the way to the ring. I believe Cyndi Lauper also accompanied them. What happened with the Freedbirds in the WWF? Was this a one shot only deal? Did they get any heat with Fritz for working up north?

I haven't seen that video, although I have seen video of the Freebirds working WWF shows with Dave Wolf, who was Lauper's manager, accompanying them.  The Freebirds had left World Class and were going to work full-time for the WWF.  However, Vince McMahon wanted to split up the team and the Freebirds refused, resulting in them leaving the company.

I got a question. I recently went to a few WWE shows back to back and was wondering why the WWE doesn't put those amazing tribute videos they play between matches out for the rest of the audience to enjoy. The Jeff Hardy one they are playing is simply great!! It really drives home the fact that Jeff is a young, talented guy with a lot of potential. Where can we find those videos other then attending a WWE live event?

Actually, I think the video you are referring to is in the Videos section of Jeff Hardy's Superstar Page on WWE.com.  If not, your only hope is to track it down on YouTube (before WWE finds it and pulls it down).  The videos occasionally air on WWE TV, but rarely more than once, and then they are used at the live events.

With JBL seemingly coming back to the ring, can you think of anyone else that has made so much out of a career that started as nothing but a second banana? I mean if you think about it, JBL was a freaking blackjack!!! He came from no where and really became a true wrestling heavyweight. I know Austin stating as Stunning Steve is a possible choice but really I would even say that Austin in his WCW days had a better chance of making it then JBL in his early WWE days.

I would have to say Kevin Nash beats him out.  I don't think anyone has done more with less than Nash when it comes to headlining PPV events and making big money as a main event player.  Nash is tall and charismatic, but that's pretty much it.  If you saw him as Vinnie Vegas, Oz, or even the early days of Diesel, you never would have expected him to have the kind of career he has had.

I just got done watching a DVR of last nights Raw. Being the Flair mark I  am, I couldn't help but notice the shirt he was wearing in his backstage  interview with HHH. Is the horsehead shirt as well as his dialogue with HHH a hint to a reformation of the Horsemen? It could work as the perfect angle to bring them back - to keep Flair from losing. Any word on that possibility?

Honestly, I think you are reading a bit into it, as Flair has worn the Horsemen shirt (which WWE is selling on their website, it was released in conjunction with the Horsemen DVD) a few times in the past. I haven't heard anything about a Horsemen reformation at all.  However, it might be a cool idea to have Arn Anderson, Barry Windham and Dean Malenko involve themselves in a Flair match at some point to make sure the Nature Boy doesn't lose a bout.
