How long was the Dynamite Kid in the WWF, from start to finish? Was he out of the federation by the time Davey Boy Smith started wrestling singles matches, or did he hang on for a while?
Dynamite Kid wrestled his famous Madison Square Garden match against Tiger Mask in 1982, but he actually didn't start wrestling full-time for the company until 1984. He actually started out working singles matches, and then the company brought in Davey Boy Smith in 1985. The British Bulldogs had their WWF run last until Survivor Series 1988, which was Dynamite's last match for the company. Smith would return two years later for his first WWF singles run.
I was wondering something about ECW. When it was called Eastern Championship Wrestling, was the title called the ECW Title or the NWA Eastern Heavyweight Title? For example, Georgia Championship Wrestling called their title the NWA Georgia Heavyweight Title, not the GCW Title. Did ECW do the same?
As I recall, there was an emphasis on always calling it "NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling" and using the NWA name during the time that ECW was a member of that organization.
Does WWE own the footage to the Tri States Wrestling Alliance or did Gordon run that totally different?
Tod Gordon didn't run TWA, although he was involved with the promotion, which was a precursor to ECW. TWA was run by Joel Goodhart, and to the best of my knowledge WWE does not own that footage.
With Santino Marella being defeated by RVD this past Monday, when RVD isn't even employed by the company, do you feel that WWE has pretty much given up any chance of Santino Marella having a future as championship material?
With his current gimmick, I think WWE sees Santino as a mid-card comedic performer, and Santino is excellent in that role. I don't see any title reigns in his immediate future, and if WWE did have plans to give him a title run, they would have to alter his current gimmick.
Do you think that Carlito will ever truly get a push now in WWE? I thought he showed a lot of focus in the ladder match with Hardy. But considering that he's had so much heat on him for wanting to leave and publicly breaking kayfabe (ie saying he didn't like being a babyface, complaining about his match being pulled from 'Mania) do you think that his WWE career merits being saved?
Well, Carlito had one foot out the door, but WWE asked him to stay, and apparently are giving him a chance to show what he can do. Obviously, WWE sees something in him, and if he lives up to his potential and puts in a good effort, I think his WWE career will be saved. However, if he quickly resumes some of his old practices, like not working hard and publicly complaining, I don't see this push, or his WWE career, lasting.
