I have a question regarding the Raw 15th anniversary. Do you think there’s a chance that we will see John Cena on the show? I have to admit that I’m a fan of the guy and I maybe the only one thinking this but I think he’s worked very hard and has been a big part of Raw for the past two years not to mention the company and think he’s earned at least a cameo on the show. What do you guys think?
I think there is a good chance we will see him. In fact, I think it would be downright wrong if he didn't appear. He has been a vital part of the company for the past few years and should be on the show. Another sign that he may be on Raw tonight is that he was on the tour of Iraq last week. If he is going to be on Raw in two weeks anyway, why not put him on tonight's show?
I remember, in 1999 I think, Bill Goldberg making an open challenge to Steve Austin on the Tonight Show offering to put up his own money. Later, I heard Austin on Howard Stern call the challenge "bush league." I know the two became friends once Goldberg came to WWE, but was there real life dissension between the two when the challenge was made or were they simply representing their respective companies?
No, it was Goldberg being what a lot of people thought was a mark for himself. It's not like Big Bill ever really understood a lot of the mores of the business anyway. In my opinion, he had such a fast rise after getting a ridiculously huge push that he began to believe he was one of the greatest talents to ever come along in the history of the business. In truth, he never paid his dues in anyway. Basically, he stepped right out of the Power Plant and was pushed as the top guy, based completely off of his look, and his head got huge. This was just another example of him thinking he was bigger than the business. His "challenge" was every bit as silly as when Eric Bischoff dared Vince McMahon to appear on a WCW PPV. To be fair, there was a lot of angst by this point in WCW as they were going downward while the WWF was going in the other direction, so there could have been some frustration in his words as well.
Now that the WWE is releasing the names of wrestlers that violate the wellness policy I was wondering: if one of WWE's really big stars (like John Cena, Triple H, Batista, or Undertaker) were caught using banned substances (hopefully they aren't), would WWE announce it and suspend them or would they try to cover it up and protect them because of their position on the roster?
Only WWE can answer this question. If you take them at their word, if someone tests positive, they get suspended and the world is told about it. Thus far, there is no evidence to assert that there will be a double standard. I won't venture into any theories beyond that.
Almost everybody seems to be disappointed about the return of Chris Jericho and mostly blame WWE creative (again). But, why isn't Chris Jericho to blame? Maybe he wasn't so important as everybody thinks he should be. I think, Jericho has reached his prime many years ago and looks absolutely lost against current superstars like John Cena and Edge, who are in their prime. Your thoughts please.
How can he look lost against Edge or Cena when he hasn't worked against either of them since his return? That makes no sense. As for Jericho, I have always seen him as a 1A, not quite top guy but super talented worker. I still see him that way. In order for the fans to see him as more than that, creative needed to book him as something special. Instead, they booked him as just another WWE guy. They had him work a very competitive match against Santino Marella, who has just recently been beaten much more easily by almost sixty year old Jerry Lawler. That made Jericho look weak and just like any other WWE wrestler. That is why creative catches the heat that they do. It's deserved and warranted.
I find Shelton Benjamin very dull and boring in his promos. Yeah he's the best athlete in the WWE but who cares really? Being a great athlete wont get you over as much as connecting with the crowd.
Being a great athlete is, or at least can be, an important part of being a wrestler, especially when you aren't good on the mic. For WWE to not try and make Shelton Benjamin more charismatic would be a waste of an asset since the guy can have great matches.
