How about this as an idea to lure Sting into a WWE run? Flair stays undefeated until entering the Royal Rumble which he doesn't win, being eliminated (possibly illegally) by Kennedy or Orton. McMahon gives him one more chance to save his career in a tag match at Mania versus him and whoever eliminated him at RR. Flair manages to present Sting as a surprise tag partner, but when Mania rolls around Sting betrays him during the match and Flair loses. Sting finally gets one over on Flair, and it's the last laugh.
Interesting idea, but I don't see Sting coming into WWE to be a heel, and Sting turning on Ric Flair at this stage in his career would definitely be a heel move.
I was looking at my Wrestling DVD collection the other day, and I got to thinking--has the Survivor Series 1997 match between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels been released on any DVD collection? I understand why it's not on the Bret Hart DVD (or at least pulled from the project once Bret signed on with WWE), but why has the match not appeared elsewhere? Also, in the booklet for the WWE DVD set History of the WWE Championship, Shawn Michaels' title reign from 11/9/97 to 3/29/98 isn't listed. Bret Hart's reign that ended at the 1997 Survivor Series is listed, and Steve Austin's reign that started on 3/29/98 is listed. Is this a simple omission, or possibly a condition of Hart's continued participation in future releases?
The Montreal Screwjob was included on the "Best of WWE Confidential Vol. 1" DVD, which came out about five years ago. As for the booklet error, I noticed it on my copy as well, and assume it is just a mistake, since I highly doubt Bret would ask (or WWE would grant) that kind of condition.
In terms of the Ric Flair angle from last Monday, what do you think of the idea of bringing in guys that Flair has feuded with in the past. Sure, we know Flair would be going over, but I think that goes without saying now anyway, until Mania. I think they'll likely throw Carlito at him for the PPV since they have a history. From there, on Raw he could beat on various jobbers and tag team wrestlers. For the PPVs though, what if Vince had mystery opponents for Flair. There is only the Rumble, No Way out and Mania left. What if they brought in 3 of Vader, Funk, Steamboat, Rhodes or any others from PPVs past. You're at least keeping your singles guys strong by not having them go down clean, you don't resort to DQs, and you get some nostalgia while you're at it. What do you think?
I do think there is some potential in having Flair's past rivals show up and want to be "the one that retires him", but WWE hasn't given any indication that they are going to go down that road.
Why hasn't Bryan Danielson signed with TNA or WWE? I know he's worked dark/Velocity matches before, but is he seen as too small? He would be a tremendous addition to any roster.
I think it is simply a case of Danielson preferring to wrestle the style and types of matches he enjoys and takes pride in, and he has found that he can make a living at it, rather than changing himself to work for WWE or TNA.
Whatever happened to WWE's music video packages? They used to have them running up to PPV's and tying up major storylines. One that comes to mind was the awesome Rock v Stone Cold video with Limp Bizkit in the background. I haven't seen the videos in a while and I think when it happens that MVP and Matt Hardy deserve a music video package. Do you guys think WWE should go back to these and do you think MVP and Matt Hardy deserve one for the epic conclusion to that storyline?
I agree, WWE has backed away from doing music videos as often as they used to. Other than the "official PPV song" stuff, they don't do music videos at all. It might be in part because WWE feels that they don't need the music to make their video packages interesting and feel the footage is enough on it's own.
