PWINSIDER Q&A: VON ERICHS, DIVA SEARCH, TAZZ AND MORE

Silly question, but how many Von Erich brothers were there?  How did they die?

All totaled, Fritz Von Erich had six sons.  Jack (who passed away as a child), David (died on tour in Japan due to an intestinal ailment, although many believe drugs were involved), Mike (suicide after a long battle with toxic shock syndrome which many believe resulted in depression and other problems), Kerry Von Erich (suicide as he was about to be sent to jail for violating probation for a drug offense), Chris (suicide), and Kevin, the only one of the six brothers to live past the age of 35.

Why does WWE even bother with the Diva contest?  It wasn't even done on TV (for the most part), and now several weeks have passed and I don't think anyone even remembers who won the thing! Why keep it around?

Honestly, I can only think of one reason for WWE to do the Diva Search at this point, and that is if it drives up website traffic (and thus, generate ad revenue).  If they want hot women, they really don't need a contest to find them, and if they want wrestlers, they have developmental territories with women who WANT to be wrestlers.  If having the contest resulted in a ton of hits for WWE.com, I guess that is a reason to keep it around.  Otherwise, I would just ditch the concept.

Watching the Survivor Series elimination match, I was reminded what a good color commentator Tazz is.  I really feel he is being underutilized on ECW.  There's just not enough on those shows for him to analyze and talk about.  Would WWE ever consider moving him back to Smackdown or putting him on Raw?

I couldn't agree with you more about Tazz being underutilized.  ECW, in addition to being a shorter show, often has very short matches, meaning Tazz and Joey Styles spend most of the show introducing video packages or sitting through promos, and rarely get to call a long match.  Tazz was great on Smackdown, which traditionally has featured more wrestling than Raw, and allowed him to really shine as an analyst.  I think WWE would consider moving Tazz to another show if they didn't have ECW, but it seems that as long as ECW has a TV timeslot, Tazz will be tied to that show.

Is it possible that Wrestlemania won't sell out?

Sure.  If WWE doesn't come up with a great card, or some sort of hot angle, in the weeks prior to the show, I think they will have a difficult time selling off the last of the tickets for the event.  However, if the show isn't sold out by then, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE starts papering the show (give aways, freebies, comps, whatever you want to call it) to fill up the balance of the stadium.

Have you ever been physically threatened by a wrestler who didn't like something you said or wrote about them?

Nope, not that I can ever recall.  I think you would have to be pretty immature to physically threaten someone because you don't like someone's opinion.  I'm sure there are some wrestlers that would criticize this website, but I'm not going to go and threaten to beat them up either.
