PWINSIDER Q&A: NEW SET FOR RAW, FLAIR ON SMACKDOWN, WWE ADS ON TNA AND MORE

Has the WWE ever considered contacting UFC stars such as Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture or any other MMA star with a top amateur wrestling background  about signing with the company. I know about work schedules & ect. But who would be a good addition from the UFC (if they was interested that is) in your opinion?

I haven't heard of WWE trying to contact any UFC stars about working for the company.  If WWE were to go for any (and I don't think they will, nor should they), I would think someone with a "larger than life" personality like Shonie Carter or Quinton Jackson would be a good choice, or someone with a lot of natural charisma, like Forrest Griffin.

Isn't it about time WWE scrap more PPV events (B cards) ?I think maybe 9 or 10 cards a year might give feuds a chance to breathe.

Actually, I'm surprised WWE has ditched the shows they have (New Year's Revolution and December To Dismember, although the latter was a huge failure).  As long as the shows are profitable, and they are, I don't see WWE scrapping any more of them.  I agree 100% that they should have less PPV events to make them more meaningful and allow feuds times to develop, but at the same time, WWE is a business, and as long as they are making money, you can't expect them to get rid of shows.

How much pull do the companies have on the advertising done during their shows? I was a bit taken aback to see not one, but two, ads for the Smackdown vs. Raw 08 video game during the TNA broadcast last Thursday (11/15). I understand the networks want to go with the money, but isn't this a strong case of biting the hand that feeds you? Somehow, I can't see advertisements for any TNA products on any of the WWE shows/networks.

TNA has no control over the ads that SpikeTV airs on their shows.  Spike has advertising deals with video game companies, and if the game company wants to advertise a WWE game, then that is what you are going to see. Spike doesn't see it as putting a game for a competing wrestling company on during TNA.  They see it as another commercial from an important advertiser. Now, WWE has a little more stroke over ads on their shows, since they have a stronger relationship with USA Network, and could probably convince USA to not allow TNA ads (on a national level).

When Ric Flair had his disagreement with WWE a few months ago and stopped showing up on SmackDown!, it was said to be over a disagreement between them. Now, he's returning to RAW next week, even though he was drafted to SmackDown! in the last draft.  Did the "disagreement" between the two have anything to do with being moved from WWE's flagship program?

From what I understand, it had less to do with the move to Raw, and more to do with the fact that once he was moved to Smackdown, WWE didn't do anything with him, other than having Great Khali lay him out. Flair's problem was that he felt he had something to contribute to the show, yet WWE Creative wasn't bothering to come up with anything for arguably the greatest wrestler of all time.

It was asked before but do you think WWE should give Raw a new set on its 15th Anniversary?

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't bother.  The ring is still the ring, the ramp is still the ramp.  It doesn't matter what kind of video screens you stick behind the stage, what matters is what happens in front of them.
