PWINSIDER Q&A: RING OF HONOR FAN REACTION, A NEW WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION AND MORE

I would like your opinion on something. After hearing the kind of reaction that Eddie Guerrero, Matt Hardy (at first) and Christian got from the ROH crowd; compared with the reaction that Jeff Hardy got there – What kind of reaction do you think a Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Big Show, Kane, Triple H or Shawn Michaels type would get there? I am a big ROH fan and appreciate the wrestling prowess of someone more than any crazy gimmick. Do you think guys like the aforementioned have enough popularity with those kind of wrestling fans to overcome their crazy gimmicks?

It probably depends on the crowd and location.  The more diehard ROH fans in the Northeast would probably be more likely to crap all over someone like Hogan or Triple H for backstage political reasons than fans in other parts of the country.  It's not an easy question to answer, but I could see Undertaker getting a positive reaction, since ROH fans would respect his longevity and contributions in the ring.  Someone like Big Show would probably get a "Don't Come Back" chant since he is seen as someone who had his success due to size, not talent.

Just a question about Sting while he was in WCW. I saw a clip of him on youtube recently ahead of a match he was supposed to have with Hulk Hogan at Halloween Havoc. As soon as the match was due to start Hogan just lay down and Sting pinned him. Was there any storyline reason/backstage politics behind this because it seems a really strange way to present a main event match on ppv for the World Title? Was this linked to what happened with Hogan and Jarrett later on when Russo just threw the title belt at him in the ring and cut that shoot promo on him?

Nope, no connection between the two.  In the case of Sting-Hogan at Halloween Havoc, it was all storyline, since this was the period where WCW tried (in my opinion) to get too cute with the "pulling back the curtain" concept and do storylines about backstage politics.  So, Sting beats Hogan, then ends up facing Goldberg later in an "impromptu" main event to send the fans home happy.  In the case of Jarrett-Hogan, what started as a similar storyline turned into Russo swerving Hogan (allegedly) in real life.

I recently read an update on Hardbody Harrison on your site, as well as an entry devoted to him on Wrestlecrap.com. It got me to thinking; what was the deal with this racial discrimination lawsuit against WCW? Why did WCW settle? In a world where everyone screams racism about everything, did anyone actually think these "talents" were not pushed because of their race? Is it not ridiculous that these men ended up with a lot of money because of the pressure of being politically correct?

Quite simply, WCW paid to make the problem "go away" rather than going through the time and expense of having to convince a judge or jury that Harrison was a crappy wrestler.

I was wondering with Survivor Series being this Sunday, wouldn't it make some sense for the WWE to crown a new Cruiserweight Champion at Survivor Series. They need a new champion and while I understand that they don't have that much talent for it, I believe that they need to keep the title semi relevant and crown a new champion. What do you think?

It would make sense, if WWE had any intention of continuing with the division.  WWE has dropped all mentions of the Cruiserweight Title over the last several weeks, so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for them to crown a new champion.

My question is since the WWE is now in the movie making business, do you think they would ever hire Duane "The Rock" Johnson to star in their film or is Rock out of their price range?

I don't think it is a matter of price range as it is the fact that Rock is working hard to establish himself as a serious film actor, and doing a film for WWE would reinforce the idea that Rock is "a wrestler trying to be an actor", which is not what Rock is going for.
