PWINSIDER Q & A: ROCK IN A PART-TIME ROLE, HOGAN IN TNA, LOTS OF CENA, LANCE STORM'S COMMENTARY, SHAWN MICHAELS AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2007-11-14 10:00:00

We all know The Rock won't come back for a match, and won't come in for an extended period of time, however Rock frequently says in interviews one thing he misses is a live crowd. I remember back in 2004 Rock did some appearances such as opening Raw in Miami, and a guest host on the Diva search which got the crowd pumped right up. Is there no way Rock could do 1/2 appearances a year in order to let him entertain a live crowd and give Raw/SD a segment with The Rock. If Austin can appear to guest ref at Mania and show up at SME in the Vince/Illegitimate son angle, surely Rock could do similar?

I think in the case of The Rock he helps out when he can but honestly, given how off of the public buzz meter wrestling is plus all of the drug and Benoit publicity, it is a lot smarter for him, as a movie star, to stay away from the business right now.  He doesn't need to get smeared with any of its problems.  Plus, with his schedule, he doesn't have a lot free time to devote to the business.  As for the Austin comparison, given how badly The Condemned did, let's just say he has a lot more free time to devote wrestling than Rock does.

Any word of whether Hulk Hogan may do a stint with TNA? Now they've got to 2 hours, surely bringing in Hogan in for a 1/2 month program with a guy like Roode or Cage or even Angle would increase ratings and buyrates? Even if Hogan went over a young guy like Roode, it would still give him the rub and wouldn't take too much away from the show.

Hogan has had the chance to work with TNA in the past and left them at the door after shooting an angle with Jeff Jarrett.  My feeling is that TNA will not pay him the money that he thinks he's worth and since Hogan wouldn't work with WWE because he didn't like the money he was being offered, I don't see much chance of him working for TNA for less.  With The Hulkster, it's always about the coin.  Plus, he has other issues now with his son's arrest and the American Gladiator show he will be doing.

Hey Dave, great site, but for the life of me, what the heck is going on with WWE and this whole John Cena thing... They have FOUR Freakin' articles on how he got injured... Yes, it is very unfortunate, and I am not a Cena hater, I respect him he loves this business very much, but this is unbelievable!!! They are already stuffing him down our throats way too much!

I think they knew it would get a lot of clicks from readers of their website so they gave them what they were looking for.  I don't blame them a bit.  It was a smart decision for them and given that he won't be back for a while, they won't be able to get a whole lot more out of Cena for a while.  So, it was a temporary overload.

I have been reading many articles, reviews, and stories on Lance Storm's website. Lately, he seems not to like much of the WWE and especially the TNA product. If you guys have been reading his stuff, what do you think of what he has to say? While I agree with a lot of what he has to say, I do feel that he sees things in the eyes of a wrestler and booker and therefore would have a hard time seeing things as a casual fan. Sometimes, some things sound worse or better than they actually are. Your thoughts?

Just as I love what Les Thatcher writes here because of his inside perspective, I feel the same way about what Lance has to say on his site.  I like that he sees things from a "what makes sense" point of view and he was a fan before he became a worker, so I think he can see it from both sides.  I think he has a great perspective and I enjoy hearing what he has to say and he shoots straight and isn't looking to get a job somewhere based off of what he writes.

I've read some reports recently that said that Shawn Michaels is supposedly reluctant to return to the WWE because he wants to spend more time with his family. It almost sounded like he might not come back at all. Is that true?

Obviously, it is not the case.  People asked me about the rumor when it started making the rounds.  I was never able to get any information that would corroborated that story.
