PWINSIDER Q&A: VETERANS IN ECW BRINGING BACK HARDCORE FLAVOR?, PG-13, TRIPLE H VS. UNDERTAKER, HURRICANE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-11-06 09:57:50

How come Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee had such short reigns with the AWA tag team titles? They made a big deal out of them winning the titles on the Memphis TV shows.

They were likely short reigns because they were major stars in Memphis, which had a working agreement with the AWA at that time.  Lawler and Dundee winning the belts helped their star power in Memphis, but they were never going to be regulars on the AWA touring circuit, so it was a short reign.

Do you think, if he was able to and wanted to, of Mick Foley filling in the place of Benoit on ECW? I know its a bit far fetched, but Mick was known in ECW, and is in my opinion on of the most hardcore guys around. Do you think he would make sense in that role, and that it may bring a little "old school" ECW feel and hardcore sense back to the stagnant brand?

No.  The old school ECW hardcore feel is long gone and the return of Foley, well past his prime, as a regular in-ring performer wouldn't fix that.  If WWE was going to move a veteran to ECW to work with the younger talents, my picks would be a returning Dean Malenko or Fit Finlay.

Hey here's a crazy thought, Could the SaveUs videos actually be for someone other than Jericho? I think it could be Gregory Helms as the Hurricane. What do you think?

Gregory Helms is nowhere ready to return to the ring from his neck fusion surgery, so the videos aren't him.  It's always possible that WWE will turn around and swerve everyone since it's pretty well known they are building to the return of Chris Jericho, but that would be cutting their noses to spite their face.  I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but it would be a really dumb maneuver.

Has Triple H ever beat the Undertaker (By pin. Not by DQ or Countout).  I know Undertaker won the two matches they wrestled on pay per view (Wrestlemania 17 & King of the Ring 2002.

I know that Triple H pinned Undertaker in the "final" PPV using the WWF name, the 2002 Insurrextion PPV in London, England.  There may have been other pinfall victories as well.

Whatever happened to the tag team of PG-13.

Former USWA Tag Team champions and WWF Nation of Domination members PG-13 were Jamie Dundee and Wolfie D.   Dundee, who at one point, was working on the Jerry Springer Show booking talent, still works regularly on the independent scene in the Tennessee area.  Wolfie D went on to create a more gothic look for himself, working as Slash in Jim Mitchell's New Church during the early TNA PPV series.
