Hey guys, love the site. It seems like this site is one of the only places for responsible wrestling journalism on the Internet. Question- after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was introduced on Raw in 2002 by awarding the old WCW World Heavyweight Title belt to Triple H, the belt seemed to change after a few months of use. I believe that I read somewhere that WWE had a new belt made during this time period that looked just like the old WCW belt. Is this true, or did WWE just make modifications to the old "big gold belt" that had been used for years? And if not, where is the original belt now?
World Wrestling Entertainment had a new belt made, as the current one features the WWE scatch logo. The actual original WCW "gold" belt is in Hulk Hogan's possession as he left with it the night of his final WCW appearance where Jeff Jarrett laid down for him and Vince Russo cut a promo that changed the script of their planned angle coming out of it. The WCW belt that was used after that night was a second belt that WCW had produced, but the one with all the history behind it is somewhere in a trophy case owned by Hogan.
Do you think there will a DVD devoted to Sgt Slaughter? His matches with Pat Patterson and Bob Backlund are two of the best matches that I recall from the early 80's.
I absolutely believe that WWE will want to do one down the line as Slaughter still works for the company and there is a wealth of matches that the company owns in their library from their own company, the AWA and Mid-Atlantic they can use to flesh out a potential documentary look at Slaughter's career. Given the nostalgia factor that WWE uses to market their older legends and the fact that Slaughter has been one of the central figures for that, it makes sense they'd do a DVD.
I was just thinking, with Teddy Hart being released and the Hart Foundation 2 angle possibly being scrapped, do you think the WWE could use Nattie Niedhart, Harry Smith and Ted DiBiase Jr in a faction with Randy Orton with the common bond being that they are all 3rd generation superstars? They could cut promos about how they are younger, stronger, smarter and just better then thier opponents and come off as really cocky and disrespectful heels. It could also lead to a really good Survivor Series match pitting them against HBK, HHH and a few other faces.
I could see WWE uniting the other three as one group, but I don't see them using Randy Orton as the springboard to introduce them. There has been talk of moving Smith and Neidhart to the ECW/Smackdown side, so we'll see.
Everybody's been talking about how great it will be when Chris Jericho returns, and he will no doubt be great but how do you think his in ring skills will be affected?, because obviously can't have any warm up matches in developmental without ruining the surprise of him coming back. So my question is: being away from the ring for that long, how much ring rust will he have?
While he may not be training in developmental areas, there's nothing stopping Chris Jericho (or anyone else) from getting inside a ring that's put up in a warehouse, his own property or anywhere else in order to get "ring rust" off, so my suspicion is that if and when he pops up, he'll be good to go.1
I read the news where both Krissy Vaine and Ryan O'Reilley asked for and was granted release from the WWE due to the fact that, since both are currently involved with one another, that they couldn't stand being apart since he was on the road and she on Smackdown. With them no longer with the WWE, any chance of both going to TNA together? This way they will be working together and not apart. What do you think?
Both have already expressed interest in working for TNA. Whether TNA is interesting in using them remains to be seen.
