Personally, I am not a John Cena fan and am glad to see him off WWE television for at least 6 months. I do give him the respect of finishing his match on Monday, and though I never wanted him to be physically injured to be taken off TV, he has been WWE champion for over a year. Also, with him being in the WWE main spotlight for almost 3 years, I've had more than enough of him. My question is, when John Cena does return in 6-12 months, do you see WWE just giving Cena the title right away and not only coming back right where he left off, but with a bigger push (meaning ANOTHER full year of Cena as champion)?
I think WWE would be foolish to put the title right back on Cena when he returns. There is a lot of money to be made in having Cena chase after "the title he never lost" before finally having him win it back. I definitely think Cena will be champion again, however I don't know if we will see anyone have a one year reign again. I honestly was surprised WWE allowed Cena to have one this time around.
Since Cena will be out for 6 – 8 months, do you think it would be wise to repackage him and bring him back as a heel? There is no doubt that he has incredible charisma and he has worked as a heel before. He actually did a good job with it as The Prototype. I know it is a stretch since the girlies and kiddies will always love him but bring him out and let him lay out {Top Babyface Here} in a heinous manner and see how quickly that changes. I think it may be a fresh change and make an inevitable face turn have more impact.
I absolutely would not turn him heel. Figure he will probably be even more popular when he returns, since a lot of fans that enjoyed Cena, but grew tired of his title run, will be ready to embrace him again. Also, he moves tons of merchandise, and heels don't move nearly as much. I do think WWE should stop scripting "Rock ripoff" promos for him and allow him to have more control of his promos, but I would keep him a babyface.
If memory serves me correctly The WWE and John Cena were about to start a new movie soon anyway where he was going to take time off. If he can get healthy enough is the movie still a go? and when was the movie expected to begin taping? This may not be as bad knowing that he could allow himself to heal from other injuries (minor bumps and bruises) and to work on a movie schedule.
I don't believe a firm date was ever set for Cena's next film project. Obviously, he might be able to do some film work during his time off, but if it is an action film, or a movie that requires Cena to show off his physique, it would probably be hard to do. Because of the nature of his injury, it will be a while before Cena can workout to the level that he is accustomed. And WWE Films isn't exactly known for cerebral, quiet productions.
Presuming Chris Jericho returns at No Mercy, what do you think are the chances of him winning the now-vacated championship, or having Orton win it and then feud with Jericho for it? I personally think it would be a great way to immediately re-establish Jericho as a top guy to take Cena's place, and it doesn't really come at the expense of anyone else. Also, how would you like to see them go about crowning a new champion, as they say they will?
Obviously, the chances are pretty good, since other than Randy Orton and Chris Jericho, the only person I can possibly see being given the title on the Raw brand is Triple H (I am assuming Shawn Michaels isn't ready to return yet). It pretty much has to be one of those three, I would think. As for crowning a new champion, I would like to see a battle royale to determine Orton's new opponent for the vacant title, but that's just armchair booking.
Hey guys, great site!! I have two questions pertaining to No Mercy. First, since John Cena will be out for half a year, wouldn't it be time to replace the Spinner Championship belt? Second, any chance the SaveUs222 angle is intended for Shawn Michaels?
I definitely think the Spinner belt will be retired for a while. Besides, this allows WWE to come up with yet another championship belt that they can sell replicas of! As for the SaveUs angle, almost all signs are pointing to Chris Jericho, but there is always a chance for a swerve and Michaels is supposed to return soon.
