PWINSIDER Q & A: HARDCORE HOLLY, TNA AND HEYMAN, SCUMBAG WRESTLING FANS, PURPOSELY FAILING DRUG TESTS, WHY WE CHOOSE NOT TO REPORT SOME ITEMS AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2007-09-26 10:00:00

Why was Hardcore Holly wrestling on Raw, although he was drafted to Friday Night SmackDown!?

The simple answer is because other than you and I, no one remembered that he was!  Seriously, while he was taken from ECW to Smackdown in the Supplemental Draft in June, WWE doesn't exactly pay close attention to things like that.  It's not like they think we actually follow storylines or expect an explanation when things don't make sense!

I read on that TNA is not interested in Paul Heyman and I was wondering why wouldn't they be interested in him? After all his ideas from ECW were borrowed by Vince Russo. That's like buying the generic soda with the grocery's name on it when you can have a Coke they may be similar but the original is better.

I agree that he would be a great fit for TNA but the bottom line is simple, TNA is happy with their booking team and they are not going to make any changes.  Where bookers are concerned, logic and what makes sense doesn't always happen.  Writing storylines requires someone with a healthy ego and when someone has that job, they often don't welcome in people who could clash with them or take their spot.  Also, to be fair, Heyman does have his warts too and I doubt he would want to work there with anything less than full booking control, which I don't see happening.

I feel that I have to address something. I almost cannot believe that a fan yelled "Good night, Daniel" when Davey Richards used the crossface on Austin Aries at the last ROH event. That fan should be ashamed of himself not just for trying to put himself over, but for being a despicable person in general. Anyway, my question is this: why do so many more smarks than marks try to be the focal point of a show? This is especially true of a few ROH hecklers. We're all in the know, so what's the big deal if they make jokes about what everybody who reads these sites already knows? Also, is it too soon to use Benoit's trademark moves, in your opinion?

I agree with you, that person is an utter scumbag and in a just world he would be flogged in public by anyone who he offended.  Why do some people do those things?  Well, sometimes it's because they are nasty, bitter losers who can only feel better about their pathetic existence if they act out in such classless ways.  The benevolent among us would say that we should feel sorry for them but personally I just wish they would go crawl back in their hole and not ruin things for those of us who aren't lowlife losers.

If a WWE wrestler wanted to go to TNA couldn't he just repeatedly violate the wellness program? For example break out a joint at 3 shows. Would the no-compete still stand? Hell, you could even make angle out of it.

Why do that?  Why not just walk up to Vince McMahon and punch him in the face, or go over to the concession stands and steal money out of the cash register?  Why commit a crime and have it etched onto your public record?  Also, at this point in time, I think TNA would be smart enough to stay far away from someone who publicly breaks the law.

This might be a bit of a contentious issue, but I'll ask anyway.  A lot of times in the Q and A's you'll talk about what is said backstage, or what you've heard (presumably from backstage), I've seen it a few times now where'll you won't disclose particular points, such as who has been suspended or for what particular reason (not necessarily in relation to the Wellness Program), and you'll just breeze over it, saying you've heard something but it's not appropriate to state it ... I was just wondering how you can freely talk about backstage rumors and backstage politics, who's a good worker and who isn't, surely it's all circumstantial (which you heard about in the same way as the stuff you won't disclose?)  Is there a fear of a lawsuit that stops you saying some things, or is there more to it than that?

What usually stops me from reporting certain items is common decency and whether or not the piece of news is relevant.  If a worker misses a show because his mother is in the hospital battling cancer, in my opinion that is no one's business and I won't report it.  If a guy misses a show because his wife is depressed and is having issues at home, the same holds true.  They are personal issues that have no effect on the business itself.  Politics and backstage behavior have a direct effect on the business and are directly attributable to the worker, so they need to be reported.  It's that simple.
