PWINSIDER Q&A: WWE GOING PUBLIC WITH SUSPENSIONS, CHYNA, UNIONS, TNA AND MORE

With the 10 wrestlers being suspended, do you think that Vince should come out at the Raw and Smackdown/ECW tapings and tell the fans what is going on and who the wrestlers are? I understand that the WWE hasn't been announcing the the names of people suspended, but before it was one and two guys at a time. With 10 wrestlers (some of which in major storylines) I think it would be better in the eyes of Congress and the media if Vince were upfront and honest about everything. I think he needs to step up and put these names out there to show that he means business now. Obviously they are only taking the Wellness Policy as a joke now.

I think WWE publicly announcing that they made the ten suspensions on their website, and the announcement that starting November 1st names of violators will be revealed, is enough of a step at this point.  Now, the wrestlers are well aware that if they violate the policy, their names will be revealed publicly, which could have an impact on their public image and their careers, since fans may react to them negatively.  I don't see the need for WWE to announce the suspensions on television.  The television programs present the "storyline world" of WWE, not reality (although the two have been blurred at times).

Besides taping at Universal Studios in Florida, has the TNA wrestlers ever been asked to make scheduled appearances throughout the park to help promote a new ride or exhibit and, while there, sign autographs and say hello to fans as they enter and leave the building?

I have never heard of that happening, although I think Shark Boy made some sort of appearance at a Universal event.

I've seen recent clips of Chyna and I have to ask the obvious: What happened to her? She looks terrible. What happened to that tall, imposing figure of a woman who could take on both women as well as men in a match? She is a shell of her former self. Would you agree?

Yes, she does look terrible.  Substance and alcohol abuse will do that to you, which is why she recently entered a rehab facility.  Hopefully it will help her out, although reports that her rehab stint is part of an upcoming reality show has made many skeptical.

There is no question that WWE's The Undertaker (Mark Calloway) is greatly respected and admired among his fellow wrestlers both male and female in the WWE. Suppose someone came up to him and suggested that a union be created, just like what both Major League Baseball and the NFL have, to represent its players of their respected organizations and even suggested that he appointed President of the union. Do you think he would accept such a position if offered? I know the prospect of a union with the WWE is not possible (no kidding). Has the formation of a union within the WWE ever been proposed just once?

I highly doubt Undertaker, at this point in his career, would be interesting in getting involved in starting a union.  On top of which, Undertaker has a very good relationship with WWE management, and that would obviously become very strained if he tried to head up a union.  As for why a union has never been formed, it boils down to two factors.  One, most wrestlers look out for themselves, and aren't going to sacrifice for the benefit of others that they believe wouldn't do the same for them. It's that general mistrust amongst many that would stop one before it started.  Second, anyone who has suggested forming a union has usually found themselves in disfavor with management, or coincidentally released, in a hurry.

Does the WWE Wellness Policy deal exclusively with the wrestlers, male and female, in the possibility of taking steroids and other type of illegal drugs or does it focus on other types of conditions as well such as concussions, mental health and stress?

The Wellness Policy does have provisions for wrestlers to have regular physical checkups as well as cardiac testing, which I would imagine involves a stress test as well.  I don't know if they work with wrestlers on matters of mental health, but the Policy does look after the physical well being of the wrestlers.

In your opinion, who will be holding the WWE womens title by the time Wrestlemania 24 takes place and who will they be defending it against? Who would you like to see be given a chance at the womens title at Wrestlemania 24? Krissy Vaine is my choice.

That's a pretty bold pick, considering she isn't even on the roster yet.  I would like to see Victoria vs. Beth Phoenix myself, as I think it would be an interesting match between two women who usually are working against smaller opponents. I don't care which one has the title.  Unfortunately, history would dictate that we'll end up with a crappy match involving whoever gets naked for Playboy a month before.
