WWE GETS GREAT NEWS IN SNME RATING, SMACKDOWN CONTINUES TO BE STAGNANT, HHH BEING HELD OFF TV AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2007-08-21 11:04:39

Friday's Smackdown did a 2.4 broadcast rating.  That is the same number as the previous week and down from the 2.6s that the show was doing.

On the other hand, WWE got (relatively) great news in the Saturday Night's Main Event rating.  It did a 2.5 metered rating which was way up from the June 2 SNME.  That show did just a 1.9.  So while the shows aren't doing what they did in their heyday, WWE and NBC will take a 32% increase.

Troops from Fort Jackson down in South Carolina will be collecting items for the troops saving in Iraq and Afghanistan before tonight's Smackdown/ECW show in Columbia, SC.  So if you are going, you can find out what they need by clicking here.  Also, if you go please send along a report!

We have a poll up on the site about whether WWE did the right thing in holding off Triple H's return until the SummerSlam PPV.  Here are the options:

Yes because they need to do all that they can to drive PPV buys.
Yes because they give too much away on free TV.
No because they should be more concerned with TV ratings.
No because I wouldn't buy the PPV anyway.
