I'm a big fan of shoot interviews and wondered what you guys think of them. Do you think that they're really shoots, or are some of the wrestlers still trying to work the audience? I look at some of them, such as New Jack or the Iron Sheik, and can't help but wonder if they're being real, or being what they think the fans want.
A shoot interview means that a wrestler is speaking out of character, but it doesn't mean he has to tell the truth. At the end of the day, a person being interviewed will simply be telling "their side of the story" and that should always be taken into account when listening to them.
When Christian debuted in the WWE they had a storyline that he was Edge's younger brother but my question is what did Gangrel have to do with the story? And why did they have Edge feud with them and then align himself with them a short time after?
The idea they were going for was sort of a takeoff on the Lost Boys, with the idea that Gangrel had brought Christian to the dark side, while Edge was sort of the renegade vampire. Of course, all that was later ditched in favor of having them form a three-man team.
Hiya, do you think with the popularity of Raw in the last 1990's it would help WWE returning to that cool Raw music rift they had during the attitude era. All my friends mark out for that music and think it's much better than the one their currently using. The old music used to get you going. Can they go back to using it?
I'm sure Raw could, even if it meant working out a deal for the rights again. However, I don't think the music really makes that much of a difference, and I doubt WWE will ever go back to it.
Was just watching Summerslam 1990. What was the deal with Shawn Michaels not tagging in, in the opening tag-match? Was this supposed to be part of an angle or did he need time off legit?
Shawn Michaels had actually blown out his knee at the beginning of August and needed two months to heal. During that time, Shane Douglas teamed with Marty Jannetty on house shows, and the decision was made to run the injury angle at Summerslam to explain why he wasn't tagged in during the match.
So the last couple of weeks the WWE is really giving Ron Simmons a chance to "shine". By shine I mean "make look stupid". Seriously why are they turning Simmons into this rhyming moron? They really are going too far with the "Damn" thing. It was funny for the first couple of weeks but now he's just rhyming things with Damn.... Scram! Spam! Wham! Come on he is more valuable than that. They could use him to in the depleted tag division with some young up and comer to give him an Acolyte rub. DAMN!
Actually, Ron Simmons considers himself to be retired, and from what I understand has no desire to wrestle full-time at this point. While I agree the gimmick doesn't have a long shelf life, the fans do seem to be popping for him in his feud with Santino Marella.
