PWINSIDER Q & A: UNDERTAKER, CURSE OF THE WORLD TITLE, VINCE AND CONGRESS, ZEUS AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2007-08-13 10:08:00

I was just watching WWE 24/7 and they had some shows on which featured Zeus. I was wondering his history exactly. I have heard three things - 1.) He wrestled on the indie scene an then got picked up for No Holds Barred then did his stint with savage and Hogan in WWF. 2.) He wasn't a wrestler per se at all and was an actor who turned wrestler just for that period of time (The movie bandwagon) or 3.) He was a children's medical doctor and became a wrestler...What is the truth and where is he now a days???

Tom "Tiny" Lister was an actor who had appeared in a number of roles as a big, bad heel before "No Holds Barred," which was the first time Vince McMahon did a movie, was filmed.  He was picked to be the lead heel in the flick and after its run, to a less than stellar box office, Vince McMahon trained him enough to work a short program with Hogan to follow up on the movie.  He left WWE shortly thereafter and also worked shortly in WCW. Now, he's back to acting again.

Is the Undertaker really coming back at Unforgiven? Because If I can recall when Undertaker got injured in May, it was estimated that it would be 6 months which would put his return in November in time for Survivor Series.

I haven't gotten 100% confirmation on that but it is what is being advertised on the inDemand website.   Of course, he could "return" at the PPV without actually wrestling on the show.  All I know for sure is that his rehab has been going well and he will be back soon.

I read the the masked wrestler on Smackdown! is Johnny Stamboli. I was wondering, what if Stamboli had a match with Chuck Palumbo where Palumbo pulls off Stamboli's mask and we find out it's him and they have a huge feud down the line. Would you like to see it? I personally would considering all the FBI stuff from 2003/2004.

I think what would happen is that most of the fans would say, "Who the hell is that?"  I don't think Stamboli exactly left his mark on the fans during his last run.  It's not like he would be immediately recognizable or anything.  As for the feud, I have no burning desire to see it.

With the story that the World Title is cursed, injuring the likes of Batista, Booker, Rey Rey, Edge etc... do you think that's why they gave the title to Khali and didn't take the strap off him at GAB for Kane or Batista? This is probably just bad luck but do you think they would rather him injured than Batista or Kane?

It makes for a good theory.  And honestly I can't think of a better reason to put it on Khali because if they had to pick one of the three to be injured, they surely would choose to have Batista and Kane healthy over him.  But, I don't think that they would book their belt in that fashion.  I believe it's on Khali because they feel they will do better business having Batista chase him than vice versa.

With Vince McMahon comparing the Congress to "Barney Fife" on last Monday's RAW, is this a sign that the WWE (and more particularly Vince) isn't taking the requests for drugs records that seriously? Or will the WWE really cooperate with Congress and this was just the "Mr. McMahon" character speaking?

Not at all, rather it's a sign that Vince is, on air, being his usual "you can't push me around" self.  Of course, you will also notice how they trumpeted the Wellness Program finding the heart problem with MVP both on their website and Smackdown, so they are playing the public relations game as well.  With his Fife comment, Vince is just doing what he always does in situations like this.  I think what he said was extremely transparent actually.  The bottom line is WWE has no choice but to cooperate with Congress.  My hunch is that the more aggravated Vince is about it, the more shots he will levy on his product and in interviews.

Note: To follow up on a Q and A from last week, to clarify the problem with the WCW footage that WWE bought, when I said that they should pay people to catalogue the footage, I meant back when they bought it and were putting together the Ric Flair DVD.  Now, they do have people working on it.
