PWINSIDER Q & A: BONNIE HAMMER'S POWER, KHALI THE CHAMP, KENNEDY'S TITLE MATCH, WHERE'S TEST AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2007-07-30 10:00:00

What sense did it make for WWE to take the Money In The Bank away from Mr. Kennedy in the first place? With him cashing it in at Wrestlemania anyway, why not just wait to see how long it will take him to heal from his injury?

I actually wondered the same thing when he the injury happened since he would have been back well before Mania and there was no need to get the shot away from him.  I was told that since they wanted Kennedy, with the MITB match in hand, to be a focal part of the programming leading up to next year's Mania, they pulled it off of him right away when it looked like he would be out for a long time.  I think everyone probably realizes now that they jumped the gun there.

Whatever happened to Test? He seemed to be getting a big push at the start of the new ECW, then he just disappeared.

He was released by WWE.  Again.  For whatever reason, they let him go on February 27, 2007.  Sometimes, there aren't any rhyme or reason to the releases.  The word that I am hearing as I type this on 7/29 is that he may end up in TNA.

Do you think they put the World Title on Khali so that Cena will look like a great champ in comparison.

No, not at all.  Cena doesn't need to have a slug wearing the other belt to look good in comparison.  If you look at his work this year, whether you love him or hate him, you can't deny that he has been a true top guy, no matter who holds the World Title.  Also, he sells a ton of merchandise and is probably WWE's move over worker so he doesn't need any help from Khali on anything.

I know of Bonnie Hammer's past involvement with WWE, but how much influence did she really have? The book Sex, Lies & Headlocks, if accurate, would indicate she had lot of influence on the creative changes made to WWE in the 'Attitude Era', but she's never really been mentioned before as having that big of an effect on the direction of WWE so how much of her reputed influence is accurate? And what about these days? Can she really push WWE to extend Raw to 3hrs even with almost nobody else wanting that to happen?

She was certainly a vital partner for WWE back in the Attitude era.  We have covered her influence in the past so it's not a revelation how important she was back then.  She had worked closely with Vince McMahon in the Attitude era and was a vital reason for WWE returning to USA in 2005 after a five year run with Spike TV.  She has a lot of power now in her role at USA and can indeed push WWE in a lot of ways, and does.  Mike Johnson did a hotline covering Hammer's current influence last Wednesday on the Elite site.  It's still up for those who want to listen to it.  If you aren't an Elite subscriber, you can get the service for three free days by clicking here.

What was up with HHH during the latter part of 2002 and early 2003 not doing jobs? He had already established himself as a force to be reckoned with, with wins over Stone Cold, The Rock and Cactus Jack and was also a multiple time champ. So why didn't he put over RVD, Booker T and the man I felt who deserved it since he had only been back for a month up to that point, Kane?

Well, he wasn't booked to lose is the easy answer.  All of the big booking decisions are made by Vince McMahon and he chose not to use HHH as a guy to elevate other talents.  There are many stories of HHH reportedly lobbying to win his bouts but at the end of the day, it's the bosses' call.  In a lot of cases, I think it was a mistake to not use HHH's status to make new stars but they didn't ask me.
