PWINSIDER Q&A: MARC MERO, SHAWN MICHAELS' KNIGHTS, MATT HARDY AS A TOP NAME, UNDERTAKER AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-07-15 09:00:32

I was just watching WWE 24/7 and its programming this month brings us Survivor Series 93 in 2 parts. I was wondering what the identity of the Knights were (Black, Blue, Red) on Shawn Michaels team? I Check Wikipedia and they only really have one identity and they have that listed as being Glen Jacobs or Jeff Gaylord. I happen to know it was Jeff Gaylord because at one point you could see a few features of his and since I was a fan of USWA on ESPN and the Apter magazines, I happen to know what Jeff looked like.

The Knights were Jeff Gaylord, The Brooklyn Brawler and Greg Valentine.  One of the Knights was originally going to be Terry Funk, but he decided against doing the role and flew home, leaving the outfit at the hotel's front desk for WWF to retrieve.

When the Undertaker finally decides to hang it up, do you think the WWE will release a DVD set where we actually get to hear him talk about his character and career.  He has been involved in some crazy matches and worked with some unique characters.  It would be cool to hear him reflect back on his time in the business, a la Bret Hart.

It's possible but there's no way of saying for sure.  One would think that once his career is 100% finished, he wouldn't have a problem with revealing aspects of his career that he prefers to leave cloaked in the mystique of the Undertaker persona, but only he knows for sure.

Why do wrestlers tape up their wrists?

It's done for protection and support of their hands and wrists while they are wrestling as well as a way to prevent the build up of sweat from causing them to slip while executing moves.

Lately I have found the site to be depressing. So I am going to ask some straight fluff.  Who is the Nature Boy?

Obviously, it's Buddy Landell!

With Matt Hardy having one of his best years this year will Vince get the message and push Matt into a program with Edge after Edge is done with Kane?

I haven't heard of any plans to give Matt Hardy a top role on the Smackdown brand right now, but based on his in-ring work and reaction from the audience, there probably isn't a more deserving babyface on the entire main WWE roster.  Hardy's motto is "I Will Not Die" and he's proven there is truth in advertising.  No matter what happens or how the company promotes (or doesn't promote) Hardy, his fans continued to give him huge reactions and his work is so good that no matter where on the card he is positioned, he does a good job at putting the spotlight on his matches, if not stealing the show outright.

I saw Marc Mero on TV this week. and he looked not like the old Marc Mero. He was not tan plus, is face was all white? Did Mero rub tanning oil on himself be for the matches. And how long did he last in TNA.

It was the same Marc Mero, but during his time in the ring, he obviously tanned regularly to give himself a darker skin tone.  One of the reason so many wrestlers tan is so they stand out more in the ring and look to have better muscular definition.  Mero was in TNA for a few months when Dusty Rhodes was booking but was never in a really prominent position.
