PWINSIDER Q&A: MATT HARDY, WRESTLERS UNDER THE RING AND MORE

I know, "we all" want to see Matt Hardy against Edge for the World Heavyweight Title. But why has WWE allowed Matt to be "that good" for weeks and months. He wins and wins and wins - did they finally realize that he has "it" and/or can't ignore the fan reaction anymore?

From what I understand, it is a combination of Matt Hardy winning over some of his old critics with his hard work and the fan reaction.  As much as WWE is criticized for not listening to the fans, they saw how ridiculously over Matt was with their audience, and rather than ignore it, they are wisely capitalizing on it. He's easily one of the top two babyfaces currently active on Smackdown (the other being Batista).

When people like (back in the day) The Undertaker, or, on a weekly basis, Hornswoggle come out from underneath the ring, do they need to stay underneath the whole time, or are there frequently ways to somehow get to the ring? I'd imagine the latter can't always be possible as many of the venues WWE runs in are hockey/basketball stadiums unlikely to have trap doors.

Most of the time, the wrestler that needs to get under the ring makes his way out during a ring entrance or video package where the arena lights are turned off, scurrying under the ring as inconspicuously as possible.  That way, they don't have to stay under the ring all night.

Considering his visibility (which is, by any measure, higher than most fans), and that he is in essence a walking, talking, promotional machine, does (WWE Sign Guy) Rick Achberger get comped tickets?

I have not heard that he does, but it wouldn't surprise me to find out that he was, at the very least, "upgraded" on occasion to better seats.

And speaking of signs, were the "Edge Sucks" signs before the Cutting Edge this week on SmackDown! (07/06) handed out by WWE, or were they an elaborate prank by Achberger (who had a sign in the same font saying that it was "unanimous")?

From what I understand, it was Achberger's idea, but WWE loved it.

Does the WWE have health insurance for their wrestlers? If not are the wrestlers required to have it on there own before they wrestle. If a wrestler gets hurt in the ring is it covered by the WWE?

WWE carries accident insurance and takes care of any injuries that occur to WWE performers in the ring.  It is up to the wrestlers to have health insurance and take care of any non-wrestling related medical bills. That's where the infamous "independent contractor" clause comes in.  By comparison, WWE agents, announcers, referees, etc. all have health plans that are paid for by the company.
