PWINSIDER Q&A: RETURN OF DX, RANKING THE TOP PROMOTIONS AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2007-07-13 10:00:00

What's become of "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley? The man was the most over face in the Southeast for years, yet I can barely find any mention of him on the net and books like the Wrestling Encyclopedia don't mention him at all.

Cooley is retired and living in Florida.  He actually wrestled a few matches about three years ago, one of which was a reunion show featuring the former stars of Continental Wrestling in Alabama.

Instead of just Triple H return, why not have DX as a whole return?  They were just as popular as ever last year and with Shawn Michaels out doesn't it make since just to bring them back together?

If they were going to be coming back at the same time, perhaps.  However Triple H is ready to return now, and Michaels is going to be out until the Fall, so it doesn't make sense to have Triple H waiting out for several more months when, quite honestly, WWE could use him now.

Do you feel that, after hearing his comments,  since Chris Jericho has made a substantial amount of money in the wrestling business, and left because of having a jaded mind about it, that he may return to wrestling in an ROH ring as Terry Funk did in ECW?

I'm not sure which comments you are referring to, but I don't think Chris Jericho is jaded at all.  He might have been frustrated at one time about the way he was used, but I don't see Jericho as a jaded figure at all.  He accomplished a lot more in wrestling than most, made a good amount of money, then pursued another dream, that of being a professional musician.  He also went into acting. While he did not attain the success in those fields that he did in wrestling, I highly doubt he regrets his decision.  As for a return to wrestling in Ring Of Honor, I suppose that is a possibility, but at the end of the day if Jericho returns to the ring, I have a feeling WWE would be his first choice, especially if he wants to work full time.

And also, if this happens, do you think others that want to wrestle "for fun" like RVD will follow?

I don't see Jericho's decision having a bearing on what others do, unless they want to work with Jericho specifically.

Also, do you thin in a spank of a few years we will see WWE moved into the #1, TNA #2, and ROH #3 known nationwide amongst fans much like (depending on the week lol) WCW #1, WWF #2 and ECW #3?

I think that is already the case in North America.  While the gaps are a lot larger than it was during the Monday Night War era, I don't think anyone can seriously argue against the fact that WWE (national cable and broadcast network TV, nationwide and international live events, live PPV events) is number one, TNA (national cable TV, expanding national live events, live PPV events) is number two and Ring Of Honor (nationwide and international live events, taped PPV events) is number three.
