PWINSIDER Q&A: LILIAN GARCIA, AUSTIN VS. HOGAN, WAR GAMES AND MORE

Where's Lilian Garcia? I haven't seen her in at least two months.

Lilian suffered a knee injury while skiing, and had to have surgery as a result.  From what I understand, she is expected back soon.

This just came to me. Back in 2002, I think WWE missed the ball on 2 big things. Number 1: They should had done an Austin/Hogan program when they had the chance. Granted, Hogan was only in WWE for 4 months before Austin walked out but they still could had done it. Number 2: When the nWo returned, it was the first time since 1996 that all the cliq members were in the same company. Of course Hall was fired just 3 months after he was hired and that was expected but they should had done something involving all the members while they had the chance. What are your thoughts on why this did not happen?

For your first question, WWE had a choice to make when Hogan came in and they were approaching Wrestlemania.  It was either going to be Hogan vs. Rock or Hogan vs. Austin.  WWE went with Hogan vs. Rock (and the result was an incredible Wrestlemania match) and Austin was gone before they could do Hogan vs. Austin.  Considering Hogan wrestled every other top WWE star after the Rock feud (Kurt Angle, Undertaker, Triple H, Brock Lesnar) I have no doubt WWE would have done Hogan vs. Austin.  As for your second question, WWE did have former "clique" members Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash together in the final incarnation of the NWO, so it wasn't totally ignored.  At the same time, I don't think most fans cared that much about the clique being "back together".

Can you tell me if there is a place where you can buy dvd copies of classic AWA or NWA TV tapings?

Not legally.  WWE now owns all classic AWA and NWA (Crockett, Georgia, Florida) footage, and anyone else selling it is violating WWE's copyrights and is opening themselves up to legal action.

Why was the first War Games left off the Horseman dvd?....that is the most famous War Games match...also the original...so why instead did they put a War Games that no one has even heard of on there?..I seem to remember reading that they lost the footage of Sting vs. Flair from the 1st clash....did the same thing happen to this match as well?

Actually, I think it was pretty cool that they included a rare match like that War Games on the Four Horsemen DVD, rather than a match that a lot of diehard fans probably have from old tapes.  That said, I don't believe the match is "lost" like the original Sting-Flair footage, it just was decided not to use it on this release.  Personally, I am hoping that WWE uses all the old War Games matches on a future nostalgia release.

I've often heard and read how WWE wrestlers have to pay for their own hotel and rental cars on the road, and WWE only covers airfare for the wrestlers.  What about the overseas tours?  I imagine those costs are pretty heavy.  Also, how to the wrestlers deal with ground transportation on those trips?

When WWE sends the wrestlers on the overseas tours, they actually cover all the transportation and hotel costs for those runs.  After flying them over, WWE usually has them traveling in busses as a group, not unlike a rock band.  They also book them into the same hotel and WWE covers that cost as well.  Given the usually tight scheduling WWE has on overseas tours, it just makes a lot more sense to have everyone together and traveling as a group.
