PWINSIDER Q&A: PAUL BURCHALL, MCMAHONS ON THE ROAD, WWE'S WORLD CLASS DVD, BEING RELEASED BY WWE & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-06-12 08:50:00

When a McMahon does the house show tour, how do they travel? Do they travel like one of the boys? Or do they go their own way? I remember when Shane McMahon wrestled Kane in a steel cage match around the horn a few years back, he was probably on the road for a few weeks, and I wondered if he would rent cars and drive around with everyone, stay in regular class hotels, etc or go first class all the way so to speak.

It probably depends on which member of the McMahon family and where the show is. Shane McMahon has always been seen as "one of the boys" so he's more likely to travel with them.  The others would be most likely to travel via their own means.

What is generally the procedure when someone has to inform a wrestler, male or female, that they have been released from the company? By phone?

Usually, WWE will have John Laurinaitis contact the talent via telephone to let them know they are being released and that they will be paid for the next 90 days, etc.

.What do you think WWE will do with the up coming World Class DVD set? Do you see it being as good a documentary as Heroes of World Class? Besides Michael Hayes, Jerry Lawler and Ric Flair, I do not think there is anyone else with WWE who has been in World Class. Who all do you see them interviewing? I'm sure Kevin Von Erich will be in it but do you see them contacting people like Buddy Roberts, Gary Hart, Bill Mercer, David Manning, Ken Mantel or Iceman Parsons? I really hope its long in time like the rise and fall of ECW and Heroes of World Class.

It's hard to say.  It really depends on whether they want to be honest or revise history to meet whatever story they want to tell.  I would think Steve Austin and Mick Foley would be interviewed since they spent an early part of their career in World Class.  I would think they would have to contact outside talents but I'm not sure WWE would feel the same way.  We'll have to wait until the DVD is released to see what their version of the World Class story will be.

When is WWE going to call Paul Burchall back up from OVW?  With the rosters seemingly getting thinner by the day due to injuries, wouldn't this be the perfect time for a wrestler like Burchall to return and get pushed as a big guy who can move like a cruiserweight?

I haven't heard of when Burchall might be called up to the main roster, but he's ready.  His new persona in Ohio Valley Wrestling as "The Ripper" has been a great monster heel, so hopefully WWE can translate that when they bring him to the main roster.

I don't know if you will remember this or not but when Red Dog (Rodney Mack) debuted in ECW in late 2000, they said he was a bouncer at a New York City nightclub. In his first appearance, they showed him carrying a man out of the bar and then ripping off his fake leg. The man was really old and bald with a goatee. I was wondering, was that Mad Dog Vachon?

No, believe it or not, that person was simply a fan that was at the bar where they were filming who volunteered to take part in the vignette.
