PWINSIDER Q & A: EDGE TO SMACKDOWN, SCOTT HALL AS CHAMP, VINCE AND SAVAGE, QUESTIONABLE TATTOOS AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2007-06-04 10:00:00

With Edge being moved from RAW to Smackdown what does that say about the rest if the talent on Smackdown? If I was Chris Benoit for example I would take that as a bit of a kick in the teeth!

I get the point you are making, and I love Benoit too, but the fact is WWE hasn't treated him as a top guy for a while now.  With injuries to Ken Kennedy and The Undertaker, the show needed a top talent and Edge was the guy who they moved there.  One thing that fans sometimes forget is that being a popular wrestler and being a top guy can be two different things.  You need a guy on top who is a draw.

I haven't heard of any discord from anyone on the brand about Edge coming in.  In fact, I have heard good things from the guys that he was brought over.

Question regarding Scott Hall. Do you think if he didn't have the personal problems he has had over the course of his career that he would have ever won a World Championship? To me, when he wanted to be on his game, he was a pretty good worker and definitely an entertaining promo. Any thoughts?

I think it's really impossible to say.  The fact was, he did have his issues and that affected how everyone looked at him.  If he were a boy scout, I still don't know if he would have been true World Champ material.  He got over as a gimmick character in Razor Ramon.  Then, he got over in WCW as a "former WWF guy who invaded the company".  I kind of look at him like his running buddy, Kevin Nash.  He is the kind of heel that always wanted to be "cool" instead of drawing money, so I don't know if he would have done well on top.  But, when he wanted to work he could and there have certainly been more questionable guys picked as champ than him.

Why is there a problem with Vince McMahon and Randy Savage? What gives?

That is the million dollar question and no one seems to have an answer.  Obviously, Vince has his reasons.  Whatever they are, they have been kept secret pretty well.

While watching some older WWF matches involving the Harris brothers, I noticed something that looked like a SS-symbol tattoo on their arms (I'm not sure both of them have it). After some searching on the net, it looks like it really is a SS-symbol. I live in Europe and over here it would be unthinkable for a public figure of any kind to have a tattoo like that. Am I wrong and is this some kind of weird resemblance? And if I'm right, why would wrestling promoters hire people with this kind of ''artwork'' on their body?

They sure were.  I remember noticing them when they were working for ECW, which was run by two Jewish guys no less.  During their time there, others noticed too and they added other ink to cover up the SS tats that they had.  I remember their story was it was something along the lines of it being an offshoot of their biker club, not a Nazi thing.  Yeah, right.  It was really just stupid and hateful.  Those guys were real tools to do that in my opinion.

What do you think are the chances of ECW bringing back the ECW Television Championship as a secondary title to be defended weekly on its show much like the old WCW TV Title was on World Wide Wrestling? I mean with Vinnie Doo Rag McMahon as champion the real wrestlers need a title belt to strive for too!

I think they are nonexistent at this point.  There has been no talk about it and with only an hour of TV time to fill and a lacking roster, there really isn't any reason to do it.
