Do you happen to know if there are any plans in WWE to produce a William Regal DVD set? He has a ton of great matches and lots of awesome comedic skits that Id love to see on a DVD. There is a WWE released book about Regal which I enjoyed a lot so I think a DVD would be a good idea. What do you think? Keep up the good work.
I enjoy William Regal's work (and you are right, his autobiography was awesome), but for World Wrestling Entertainment to produce a DVD on someone, they are going to look at whether it would sell to the masses. While Regal is extremely well respected within the industry and by diehard fans, I don't think he's a big enough name to warrant a DVD about him. If WWE ever did a DVD release about "Wrestling's Greatest Technicians" or something similar, he would absolutely be on the short list of names that belong there.
I recently watched the Bloodbath: Best of Steel Cage Matches DVD and was wondering if there are any plans for other specialty match DVDs? For example they could easily put out a 2-disc set featuring Hell In A Cell matches. Bonus material could include new interviews with past participants as well as some footage of how it was conceived, designed, and built. Other extras could include HIAC predecessors like the Thunder cage matches from WCW. Another DVD that could probably do well is a Best of Ladder Matches. Just curious if there was any DVDs of this type in the works?
WWE has plans for both Ladder Match and a Hell in the Cell compilation DVD sets in the near future, and of course, they also have the Royal Rumble Anthology box set.
Looking back at WCW and WW(then)F during the Monday Night Wars, and based upon reading here and there online as well as R.D. Reynolds book about the death of WCW, I think the number one thing that gutted that company outside of politcking backstage and hrrible booking in the latter days of the company, was giving away far too much for free instead of doing some huge matches on PPV for big money. What matches do you feel were most foolishly aired for free to pop a big rating instead of putting them on PPV for even bigger money?
The one example that comes to my mind immediately is Goldberg's WCW title victory over hulk Hogan, which helped WCW win the ratings for for one week against Monday Night Raw, but also gave away a match that could have made WCW really good money if they had built to it over time, like the company brilliantly did with Hogan and Sting previously.
I have a question regarding WWE 24/7. A while ago, someone wrote in that WWE changes the music on WCW archives. Now, I have Time Warner, so I do not have 24/7 but my cousin does and I watched some Nitro's at his house and it was the original music. So, what is that guy talking about?
WWE does change music themes that are used for different shows, including WCW and ECW TV. It may be that the episode you watched didn't have music that needed to be changed, but trust me, it does happen.
On the Royal Rumble Anthology, Demolition's music is not dubbed over like Mania Anthology, same with Dusty Rhodes. What gives?
It may be that WWE came to terms with the rights holders after the Mania Anthology was released, or at the time it was produced, they weren't sure on the rights, so they removed the music instead of taking a chance on it becoming a legal issue down the line. I've also been told that sometimes the music (and even pixelization of WWF logos) often comes down to whatever producer is working on the project and what he determines to do with it.
