In the Rise & Fall of ECW documentary, Bubba-Ray Dudley mentions how he thinks that at the end of the Monday Night Wars, ECW probably could had taken over WCW. Then they show Eric Bischoff who basically thinks that remark is ridiculous. My question is...... Wasn't ECW drawing the same size crowds if not larger crowds for PPV's then WCW was towards the end for both companies?
WCW was drawing more and running much larger venues, but towards the end of the company, WCW's buyrates and ECW's weren't really far off. It's entirely conceivable that one could have overtaken the other, although WCW was always going to be a much higher profile company just based on the amount of national cable exposure that it had.
What is your opinion on out door wrestling shows? WWE has not done a lot of them but I remember WCW used to with the Road Wild PPV's and the spring break Nitro's. I also remember that one Bash at the Beach actually took place on a real beach and I thought it looked beautiful. If Wrestle Mania 24 is very successful attendance wise, could we see more out door events from WWE in the future?
I've only attended a few events that were held outdoors, but the major problem is and always will be that if the weather isn't perfect, it creates a horrible visual for fans at home and a terrible experience for those performing and those attending.
What are the prospects of future Wrestlemanias going beyond, instead of up to, four hours?
You really want to kill that production team with exhaustion, don't you? I don't see that happening, unless WWE brings back the "Wrestlemania All Day" concept they tried in 2000.
With all PPVs now being tri-branded, and thus all three announce teams will now be at ringside, does that mean this is the end of the Spanish Announce Table? I know all the tables are physically the same, but the spanish table has been a major part of PPV events for the last several years. I would hate to see them go.
It could mean that, sadly, the Spanish Announce Table, will be relegated to some dark corner backstage, waiting for a falls count anywhere match to come along to decimate it.
WWF/E Hall Of Famer Jimmy"Superfly" Snuka was a NWA United States Champion, NWA World Tag Team Champion, ECW World TV Champion and 2x plus the 1st ever ECW Heavyweight Champion. Yet, The WWF/E never put a title around this great wrestlers waist. He was a great babyface and heel wrestler. He was on of the best high flying wrestlers in the history of Pro Wrestling. He was athletic, had the look and definitly put fans in the seats for the WWF/E. So Why didn't WWF/E make him a IC or World Champion? I thought he deserved it. What do you think?
Snuka was considered a top star and a big draw by WWF, but at no point was he considered a bigger star than any of the WWF champions. He also had a reputation for having issues outside the ring from time to time, which likely kept the company from pulling the trigger on him. While charismatic to wrestling fans, the company never saw him in the same light as say a Hulk Hogan in that he could connect with a huge fan base and once Hogan was in place as champion, he blew past everyone as top babyface in the industry.
