PWINSIDER Q&A: THE REASON KHALI IS BEING PUSHED, WHERE IS PAUL HEYMAN?, IDEA FOR WWE'S NEXT MOVIE AND MORE

Why is The Great Khali getting a main event push?? Since he has joined the WWE I haven’t noticed any crowd reaction to him in any way what so ever. No heel heat or face support. It just makes no sense to me to give a main event push to someone that gets so little crowd reaction. It doesn’t make sense on a business level either, as I can’t see people buying his merchandise or buying tickets to shows because he is headlining the event. Not to mention the fact that he is one of the worse wrestlers I have ever seen on WWE TV. There are many better wrestlers and more popular people on the roster that would draw people to shows and sell merchandise, such as Chris Benoit. What do you think the reasons are behind his main event push?

The reasons behind the Great Khali's push are very simple.  He's 7'3", 420 pounds.  It's really that simple.  WWE wants to push a giant monster, and Khali fits the bill.

I am sure you've probably been receiving the same question but I haven't seen it in your column, so I will ask it anyway. Can you please tell me where the heck is Paul Heyman and what on earth is he doing with his "free" time? I believe he is suppose to be doing some TV writing somewhere. This man belongs back in the wrestling business. We need his creativity and great storylines. Why can Mr. McEgo just admit his WWE "Sports Entertainment" crap is out dated and the fact that ever since he took over ECW and fired Paul, the ratings have not improved one bit. It's obvious with Vince holding the title (which is ridiculous in itself), the stupid Extreme dancing which my grandma could do better and the lack of direction the show has every week that ECW deserves better. We can all see the writing on the wall. Paul is doing nothing. TNA isn't that exciting that I want to watch every week. Why doesn't TNA upper management see the opportunity in hiring him, getting rid of Russo and make TNA a REAL competitor to WWE? Is it just me or is it all wishful thinking? Please answer.

Paul Heyman is still under a WWE contract, so TNA couldn't contact him even if they wanted to.  WWE seems perfectly content to keep Heyman under their current deal and pay him to stay home.  Heyman, I would imagine, is probably enjoying time with his family, and reportedly has been looking into various television and film projects.  Do I think it is absolutely ridiculous that Paul Heyman is not involved in the wrestling business?  Yes.  Like him or not, Heyman has proven he has a passion for the business and can help create a compelling wrestling product, and he is a resource that WWE has chosen not to use.

What are the rules of a Brass Knuckles Championship match?

I imagine this varied by territory, but I recall that a Brass Knuckles match simply was a match where punching was legal, while in other territories it was basically a fancy name for a no-DQ match.

Since it was reported on here that the movie Condemned bombed during its debut weekend. I wonder if the McMahons ever thought about doing a future WWE Films-related project where they get most (if not all) the WWE talent make cameo appearances for an action/comedy style movie a la Cannonball Run? I think this movie would be good as gold if the wrestlers could play their characters/gimmicks and give them a quest or goal to achieve in the storyline. Naturally, have the heels vs. faces being the plot. Does this sound weird to you or just plain wrestlecrap? Can't be any worse than what they've written for their first three movies so far.

I don't know how well it would do, but I actually think it would be hilarious.  Total wrestlecrap, for sure, but sometimes wrestlecrap can be pretty entertaining. A total cheeseball film, that's intended to be cheesy, would be something I would check out.  Doubt it would make much money though.

I seen where a question was asked about a new Horsemen, and I was just wonder what a great idea it would be to have all the wrestlers Ric Flair put over in the last year or so, inducted as a new horsemen group. Carlito, Johnny Nitro, Chris Masters, Kenny Dykstra. What is your opinion?

I just don't see it, at least not with the Horsemen name attached to it.  I wouldn't mind Flair leading a group of young talent, but I wouldn't put the Horsemen name on it, because that brings comparisons that practically any group of wrestlers will be unable to live up to.
