PWINSIDER Q&A: CASHING IN MONEY IN THE BANK AT WRESTLEMANIA, AUTOGRAPHS, VINCE ENVIOUS OF HULK & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-05-01 09:45:00

What do you think are the chances of ANYONE in the next few years taking the MITB win all the way to the following Wrestlemania? I know Kennedy said he would, but if that was the case he wouldn't be bringing it up now would he?

It's possible.  Kennedy has been earmarked for a big push for some time and what better way would there be to present him as a top name then push that he's guaranteed a main event at Wrestlemania?  Should something happen to take that away from him, Kennedy now has the perfect reason to lash out at those responsible.

What is the best way for a fan to get an autograph at a show? I'm attending One Night Stand as well as the Tampa RAW and Orlando Smackdown and as a life long fan I want this to be as cool a trip as I can get and I want to actually get to meet some wrestlers in person. So what advise would you give a fan that wants to try and get autographs and interact with a superstar? IS standing outside the arena all night really the only way?

It really depends on the situation.  Most fans will try to congregate at hotels, the airports, restaurants, etc. but that sometimes creates a situation where wrestlers are being bothered during their private time after or before matches.  The other problem with that is once wrestlers see a mob of fans, they often won't stop to sign because they don't want to give to some fans and not all.  I would see if there are any scheduled signings in the area that weekend and if you can find out where to meet them otherwise, do it respectfully and remember that like you and me, wrestlers can often have bad days and just "not be in the mood" to want to stop and sign, take photos, and chat with complete strangers.

Do you think McMahon has always been envious of Hulk Hogan? Back when Vince won that battle royal on RAW and he threw Chyna over the top rope, he had a Hogan style ripped shirt even with the cuts on the back! He even did Hulks poses. Now forward to Backlash he's wearing a black bandana. What do you think?

I think you are reading way too much into it.

When a wrestler "creates" a new move, is the wrestler the one that comes up with it, management or a combo of both?

It's usually the wrestler although there are times where management will instruct them to come up with ideas for new finishers, etc.

I was reading about the departure of the head of marketing from WWE, and how he came up with the idea of specialty shows, like RAW Homecoming, and other ones. Do you think WWE should do more of them, as they are something different? I liked them, I remember SNME didn't do that well.   On a similar note, What do you think of the idea of having a "Throwback Night". Examples would be some of the superstars come out in their old attire and old theme songs (Cena's "Basic Thugonomics", Taker's "Ministry" Theme, HHH and Kane's old theme and maybe old trunks, etc). Plus with all the legends they have that they bring out on occasion, they can add them too, like an old timers day too.

The Retro show is an interesting idea, especially if they planned it to coincide with Halloween, but I don't see WWE being interested in pushing what they would deem as outdated versions of their characters.  As far as "special" shows, the problem is the same one that has diluted the effect of Saturday Night's Main Event on NBC - it's hard to create a special event when you are giving away top caliber matches every week on both Raw and Smackdown.
