CHRISTOPHER DANIELS DEPARTS RING OF HONOR

By Mike Johnson on 2007-04-28 21:52:00

Christopher Daniels officially finished his Ring of Honor run tonight at their Chicago Ridge, Illinois event, cutting a heel promo where he praised TNA and "quit" Ring of Honor after wrestling Erick Stevens to a draw.

Daniels, who claimed in the promo that he wished he never had returned to the company after TNA pulled him previously, had turned the crowd completely against him by the end of his speech. Daniels also claimed he was going to have his own "Farewell tour" (playing off Samoa Joe's farewell run), announcing it would end when he walked up the aisle and returned to the locker room.

This isn't the start of a new storyline - Daniels is legitimately finished with ROH as of tonight. From this point on, much like Samoa Joe and AJ Styles when they were no longer being booked regularly by ROH, Daniels will be focus primarily on TNA and independent bookings made through TNA's office.

Tonight had quietly been Daniels' final night with the promotion, so ROH turned him heel upon his departure with the idea that if/when he ever returns, they have a ready made heel persona for him.

PWInsider.com will have much more on ROH's Mid-West swing, including the farewell of another ROH regular, Colt Cabana, later tonight.

Thanks to Keith Lipinski for his help.
