I remember hearing something about Lance Cade getting a push awhile back and doing a program with Shawn Michaels and calling himself HBCade. Is there any truth to this? And if so, what happened to it?
I've never heard that story, but in asking around, I am told that at point it was under consideration and Cade was actually set to be fitted for a new outfit to go with the gimmick, but WWE later went in another direction. If they had gone forward with it, it would have been fitting, since Cade was originally trained at the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy in San Antonio, Texas under Michaels and (more likely) Rudy Boy Gonzales.
I just saw Lockdown and realized something concerning the X Division. I felt that the X Division Xscape match was actually "special" in a way because I haven't seen a spectacular X Division match in a while. I remember that having crazy X Division matches were pretty common even on Impact and now they're not so common. My question is: Do you feel that it may be a good move for TNA to not have so many X Division matches except maybe on each PPV or just once in a while on Impact? I just think that the less common they are, the more "special" they'll feel.
It's a double-edged sword. If you have an all out intense match every week, you risk spoiling the audience and making the X-Division feel repetitive. That said, you need to be able to showcase how special the X-Division is if you want the talents to get over with the audience and mean something, which in recent months they haven't beyond some silly vignettes. There has to be a balance and I don't think TNA has found it yet. I absolutely agree with you that the Xscape match was something special, particularly the work of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin as a team.
Hey guys. First I just want to say great job on the site and keep up the good work. Now, my question, whatever happened to the supposed storyline between Shawn Michaels and Owen Hart in post-Montreal 1997? They kinda planted the seed for it at the D-Generation X ppv and the weeks after, but soon, it shifted from HBK-Owen to HHH-Owen. I know that Shawn had feuds going on at the time with the Undertaker and Steve Austin, but I had heard that Owen Hart was going to get a huge push in that feud and I was wondering why it was suddenly scrapped?
Like a lot of other ideas that seem to be great on paper (Matt Hardy vs. Edge also comes to mind), WWF changed gears. With all due respect to Owen, Michaels' other feuds were going to be bigger money makers, though. That said, even the HHH feud seemed designed to deemphasize Hart.
Two part question about the legitimacy of the "Electrified Cage" match at TNA Lockdown. I read about CZW holding these matches in the past, so I assume that that's where TNA got the idea from, given LAX's history in CZW. I'm guessing with the crazy spots and brutal content of CZW's matches, that this match could be somewhat legitimate in their promotion, however I don't see TNA actually letting established stars like the Dudleyz and LAX perform in a match like that, whether or not LAX has a history in CZW. So, is this match a big work designed for show, or is it a mix of danger and show, sort of in the vein of the C-4 exploding box matches from FMW? Is it the same in CZW?
LAX never worked for CZW, although Homicide did some matches for the company. CZW only did one exploding Cage match that I can recall, Ian Rotten vs. John Zandig in August 2004. As anyone who saw the TNA PPV will tell you, the match was more show than danger and the electrified stipulation didn't get over because of it.
You have mention Tammy"Sunny"Stych and Miss Elizabeth and their chances of being inducted into the WWF/E Hall Of Fame. I think that both ladies should be inducted and there is one more that deserves consideration in my eyes. What about Missy Hyatt?? Even though she did not make her name in the WWF/E, She did very well in UWF,NWA,WCW and the "REAL" ECW!!! She did not burn out as she was one of the top female managers/wrestlers from the mid 1980's to almost 2000. What do you think about Missy Hyatt being inducted into the WWF/E Hall Of Fame?
I don't think WWF would rush to induct her, but if they ever purchase the UWF library, it's more likely. I think there are a number of other women, including Trish Stratus, Lita, Elizabeth, and even Tammy Sytch, would who be in line before Missy/
