In a recent Q&A Xtra, you answered a question about mid-card guys offering more to the PPV's and how an event like WrestleMania should have more than 8 matches, especially for a 4 hour program. While I agree to the fact we need more matches, wouldn't the fans prefer quality of matches over quantity?
I do think fans prefer quality over quantity. But when I look at an eight match card and see Kane vs. Khali and Ashley vs. Melina on it, which I know won't be good, then I would like to have some more matches on the card so that there is the potential for more quality bouts. I don't think there should be more matches on the show for the sake of having more talent crammed on, I think there should be more matches on the show so we have a better ratio of good matches to crap.
What number did Brian Pillman wear while playing for the Bengals?
When Brian Pillman played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 1984, he actually wore two different numbers, 58 and 97.
When RVD brought up the idea of bringing back ECW full time, he said there was a place for hardcore-style mixed with quality wrestling. That eight man tag match with ECW on Sci-fi recently got me super excited. They made me remember the ECW of old. Is WWE ever going to embrace the edgy ECW style of old? If not, would you agree its not because of WWE worrying about injuries, but because many of the main eventers in WWE would worry that the ECW-style of wrestling would out entertain their matches? I dare Cena or Batista to wrestle a match better than Dreamer, Sabu, RVD, Taz, etc. from the old ECW.
As Mike Johnson reported on his Elite Hotline yesterday, several top WWE officials were very happy with the match this past Tuesday, to the point that they applauded the participants as they came back through the curtain. I don't expect to see WWE putting on those kind of matches every week, both because of injury risk and because they don't want fans to burn out on them, but I think the point has been proven that they have their place on WWE programming and don't have to be reserved strictly for PPV main events and Vince McMahon matches (which is where you normally see a lot of plunder).
I understand WWE is interested in making International brands, one of which is in Mexico/Latin America. Can you shed some light as to the structure of these international brands, where else WWE is planning to establish a market, and what wrestlers WWE would incorporate into this new venture?
Because of some statements made by WWE about future international expansion, it seems like I'm being flooded with questions about this. Yes, there has been talk about WWE possibly setting up territories or promotions overseas, and having rosters, TV product, etc. specifically for that market. However, this is still in the very early discussion/planning stages. There is talk about different European countries being involved, as well as Mexico and countries in Asia. It is all just talk at the moment, so it would be crazy to even begin and speculate what form this project with take, where it will occur and what wrestlers will be involved.
I've recently seen a picture of a WCW-Wrestler called "Gator" in the April 1995 (German) issue of the official WCW magazine. He carried an albino python on his shoulder, similar to Jake Roberts' snake "Revelation" during his 1996 WWE-run. Who is/was this guy ? http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/3791/gatorrg3.jpg
I've never seen or heard of him. I do recall a Gator that worked for one of the NWA independent promotions in the late 90's, but I'm sure that he wasn't in WCW. Scott Hall also briefly used "Gator" as a nickname, but that was in 1989. I don't know who the guy in the picture is, and if he ever worked for WCW. (If anyone does have info on him, let me know!)
