PWINSIDER Q & A: MCMAHON THE APRIL FOOL, EDGE'S STREAK, ASHLEY'S PUSH, JERICHO'S RETURN TO WWE AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2007-04-04 10:00:00

Do you see Chris Jericho returning to the WWE anytime soon? I've read that he is "itching" to return to the ring. Do you see him going back to WWE because I would hate it if he went to TNA. No matter who goes there I can never seem to get into their product.

First off, I think if Chris comes back, it will be to WWE, and it will be for a fairly short run.  At this point in his life and career, I just don't know how formidable an option TNA would be, especially since I doubt he wants a full time schedule.  With that said, money talks and if he could get the spot in TNA that Sting currently has, and he really wants to come back to the business, I am sure he would consider it.  Otherwise, if he comes back at all, I see it being with WWE.

I really don't think he is "itching" to return to a full time schedule either.  From what I can gather, he has enjoyed life away from the full time rigors of the WWE ring (as have most people that have left the company recently).  Going back to that grind in a full time capacity would dominate his life again and I don't know that he wants that.  I see him being more like Mick Foley in that he will come and go, if he does anything at all.  I know that he and WWE have talked recently, with the rumor being a fall return IF he comes back at all.

I am wondering if it has occurred to anyone that tonight's Hair vs. Hair much might be nothing more than an elaborate April Fool's Joke? We all know Donald Trump isn't going to shave his head and so everyone seems convinced that it will be Vince. Why would Vince do it?

A lot of people wondered that but as we have said on the site before, it was all about publicity.  NBC helped put the deal together and make it happen.  The hope was to get more viewers for Trump's "Apprentice" show, which has slipped really badly this season.  It hasn't worked.

Why would Vince do it?  For PPV buys and ratings!  As he has shown in the past, he doesn't mind being the butt of the joke when it is accompanied by cash dollars.

I saw Melina vs. Ashley last night at Wrestlemania and thought that the match was awful. It would have been better if they had a triple threat Melina vs. Mickie vs. Victoria. A few weeks ago Ashley was being called" the new face of women's' wrestling ". Do you think the WWE will stick to that statement or have they changed their mind after her horrible match at Mania?

Ashley got the title match push because she was the Playboy cover girl.  They knew weeks ago that her work just wasn't any good but they had to go through with the match due to the pub she was getting.  Now that Mania is over, so is Ashley's push for the title.  Thank God.  I like her energy and look, but she is just awful in the ring.

Why do so many people in the wrestling business wear fanny packs? Maybe they're not as commonplace any more, but I can remember in the late 90s seeing wrestlers out in public at an appearance or some type of other event and many of them would always have on a fanny pack. Even when they were wearing a nice suit! What do they keep in there?

The main reason is that it's an easy place for guys to leave their important stuff when they are at the gyms and buildings.  When you consider they are often in workout clothes or their gear, they need somewhere to put their money, wallet, keys, cell phones, etc.  In the 80s and 90s, a lot of guys wore Zubaz pants and they didn't really have the pocket space you need for all your valuables.

Can't Edge claim he's still undefeated at Wrestlemania? He didn't submit or get pinned. I mean, to me, the loser of a ladder match is no more a loser than someone who gets eliminated from a battle royal. The only reason I ask (and care) is because I would love to see a streak vs. streak match between Edge & The Undertaker at a future Wrestlemania.

He can claim it I guess, but to me if you are in a match, there's a winner and it isn't you, you suffered a loss.  I could see him saying he wasn't beaten but in my mind, he lost on Sunday.

Eric sent this one, in a follow up from Monday: I can actually answer one of the questions (all be it an easy one) on how people got their commemorative chairs home.  I did not buy a chair ($400 is a lot for a wrestling ticket-no matter what) but was on a flight home with someone who did.  American Airlines simply wrapped the chairs in plastic and treated them like regular checked luggage. It was kind of funny watching the chairs go up the conveyor onto the plane.
