Why doesn't WWE take Women's Wrestling seriously? Most WWE "Diva" matches are less than 5 minutes and most "Divas" can't wrestle and are only there to amuse some horny 13 year olds. There are many good female wrestlers out there and it seems to me that WWE would be better off giving entertaining matches than showing crappy 5 minute peep show matches.
Obviously, WWE knows that "sex sells" so they have opted to stock the women's division with disposable model-types, bringing in a new crop every year, rather than working on getting some actual female wrestlers over. It's a shame, as WWE had a really strong women's division a few years ago with a mix of strong workers, "Diva"-model types, and some that were both (Trish Stratus, for example). Now, the eye candy outnumbers the good workers, and it is doubtful you'll see that many strong matches from the division anymore.
Why is it that the same retreads are always put in charge of creative/booking in the wrestling world? Take TNA for instance, they have bounced back and fourth from Dusty Rhodes and Vince Russo, with the Jarrett's thrown in. None of these men have ever had true success on their own yet are always put in positions of power. I am willing to bet I could book better then any of them, yet, I would never even get a look. Why are these retreads always around even though they consistently fail.
Part of it is the fact that, while they don't always have a great track record, someone like Dusty Rhodes does have experience, and knows how to book a wrestling company. Not everyone can write out several weeks of episodic television, make use of the talent, get them over, and create a PPV event that climaxes some storylines, builds interest in continuing ones, starts new ones, and makes you feel like you got your money's worth while still leaving you wanting more. I'm not saying that Rhodes, Russo or Jarrett accomplishes that, but they have done it in the past at some point, and that is part of the reason they return to those roles. Another reason, quite simply, is that they know how to sell themselves and convince those in power that they are the right person for the job.
I was thinking of the real life heat between Bret and HBK and was curious if there has ever been any PPV match that turned into a straight shoot?
While there have been instances of wrestlers getting "stiff" with each other during a match, I can't think of any PPV bout that has turned into a full-blown shoot where both wrestlers just started legitimately fighting.
Do you ever see WWE ever getting hold of the FMW video archive and creating compilation of matches DVD(s) with Joey Styles and Tazz doing the play-by-play and color announcing and in-between match segments explaining each match and whatnot?
Highly doubtful. For starters, WWE has tons of ECW and "hardcore" footage from other North American companies that they haven't even touched yet, without looking overseas for matches they can put on DVD. Second, I believe the FMW footage still belongs to the TokyoPop people, which released a few DVDs in North America several years back.
What the heck is Vince McMahon thinking with the Wrestlemania Axxess tour in Detroit? Here we are in the city where Wrestlemania will be held, where the WWE Axxess tour will be running for 3 days, and we only have one day of WWE "superstars" signing at the tour location.... and those "superstars" are Gregory Helms, Chavo Guerrero, Kelly Kelly and Super Crazy??? What happened to the Axxess tours I've seen video clips of from past years, where you had Michaels, Undertaker, Triple H and the other top stars signing for the fans? I had been planning on making the trip all 3 days to the Axxess tour, but now I'll be spending more time on the various fan-run Ring of Honor events.
I'm sure part of it has to do with WWE feeling that Axxess itself will draw fans regardless of the names involved, and another factor is the numerous other WWE superstar appearances that are taking place in Detroit that they want fans to attend. I really don't think Axxess was designed for fans to attend all three days anyway. Obviously, if the "event" itself isn't interesting to you, and the names aren't appealing, then you're making the right move by skipping it.
