PWINSIDER Q&A: BETTING ON WRESTLEMANIA, KANE, WELLNESS POLICY AND MORE

Just wondering if you'll be placing any bets on WrestleMania at 5dimes.com?

No, I'm not really much of a gambler, except for the occasional game of blackjack.  I would suggest that Vince McMahon could go there and really clean up though!   I'm actually amazed that the site is taking bets on wrestling matches.  Maybe no one has informed them that the matches have pre-determined endings.

Strictly your personal opinion (or based on what you know, if you'd like), who do you see winning each match at Wrestlemania 23?

This is just how I would do it (and I'll probably change my mind ten seconds after I post this), but I would go with: Benoit over MVP, Khali over Kane, Ashley over Melina, The New Breed over the ECW Originals, Edge winning Money In the Bank, Lashley over Umaga, Cena over Michaels and Undertaker over Batista.

What is the official backstory on Kane's disfigurement? Were we ever given an explanation as to why he took off the mask to reveal half a head of hair and black scars on his face, then showed up the next week with no hair and a clean face? Or did creative get lazy and leave it to the fans to decide? And while on the subject, was it his decision to lose the mask or did creative decide he needed to change it up?

The decision was definitely made by WWE Creative to change up the character.  As for the backstory, good luck figuring it out.  At one point, the story was that Kane's face was horribly disfigured in a fire.  After unmasking, one line of thinking was that Undertaker/Paul Bearer had convinced Kane he was disfigured, and he really wasn't.  As for the black scars, I actually think that was just makeup to make his eyes look darker in the mask.  Either that, or it was a really bad attempt to make him look scarred, and they ditched it. They also got rid of the dumb looking "ring of hair" around half of his head.  Honestly, I think WWE just didn't know what they wanted to do with it.

My question is about the wellness policy.  It states that it prohibits performing enhancing drugs like HGH but the only way to test for it is through a blood test and WWE only gives urine tests.  And even if they did blood tests it is so hard to get a positive reading of HGH unless they just injected it.  So how do they know if the wrestlers are on HGH or not?

I guess if WWE were to catch a wrestler putting HGH in their system, they would be busted.  As you mentioned, there is no foolproof testing to find HGH at this point.

With additions over the past year or so of Sting, Christian and Kurt Angle, is there a fear that TNA is slowly becoming another WCW?

I'm not sure how having Angle and Christian in the company makes it "another WCW", since they weren't in the old WCW.  I think having Vince Russo booking is making it become another WCW, and not in a good way.  I actually think all three were good additions to the TNA roster.
