PWINSIDER Q&A: UNDERTAKER AT MANIA, MNM, DX, OWEN HART AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2007-03-03 10:00:00

Answered on 3/2

I spend many nights at 3 AM watching WWE 24/7. I love it but I'm at my wits end with WWE's obsession with blurring the WWF on the old episodes of Raw. I watch half of it and they barely blur it. Then other times they over do it. I'm watching the Raw before Wrestlemania XV (beer truck), they even blurred the part of the WWF/E championship belt. They did a close on Shane McMahon's now defunct European championship and you can see the WWF clear as day. Why can't they make up their mind with it?

It isn't a matter of them making up their mind, it's just a matter of the refinement (or sloppiness) of the editing job being done.  WWE HAS to blur the logo, due to the lawsuit with the Wildlife Fund.  I would guess that the WWF on the European Title not being blurred might have just been an oversight.

My question is: On a scale of 1-10, how tired are you of answering questions about the Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak? Because I'm tired of reading about it EVERY DAY (about a 15 on the 1- 10 scale).

I'd say it is only a six right now.  It's been happening for a few years now, so I'm used to the fact that, around Wrestlemania time, everyone will ask about it.  The fact that Undertaker is in a main event this year has just magnified it.

I just got done listening to the No Name Show and Buck and Dave were fantasy booking and threw out the idea of having, instead of Ashley vs. Melina, putting Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury with Melina vs London & Kendrick with Ashley and have a match with all 6 of them. Now, I realize also, no matter how much I want Nitro and Mercury on the Wrestlemania card, neither of them are going to fill in the final 3 spots on the MITB ladder match (And yes I did read the spoilers and I KNOW who's going to fill in the final spot). But where do you think MNM stands of right now? I honestly think they're missing big not putting them in the MITB match with the Hardys.

At this point, I think Joey Mercury might be the odd man out.  His rival, Matt Hardy, is in MITB, and he isn't.  Johnny Nitro, with his new attitude, could end up in a singles match with Carlito at Wrestlemania, although that is just me thinking out loud.  Obviously, the card is filling up, so if he is going to get a spot, it should happen soon.  I don't see MNM working as a team on the show, since WWE (this week, anyway) has decided to keep them separate.

When Triple H recovers from his injury and eventually rejoins Shawn Michaels as DX, is it just going to be just the two of them or are there plans on new additions to DX? Is there any interest to perhaps making a woman a member of DX such as April Hunter? She is not only a very beautiful woman, but a very skilled, strong and powerful wrestler. She has wrestled, not only women, but men as well. She'd make a great addition to DX. What do you think?

It has been made pretty clear that there will be no additional members added to DX.  WWE is keeping it to just Triple H and Shawn Michaels, and as long as this revival lasts, they won't be adding anyone else to it.  I would love to see April Hunter with the company, just because they could really use another female that actually knows how to wrestle, but I don't see her as a part of DX.

With the induction of a true deserving individual to the Hall of Fame in Curt Hennig, it made me think of Owen Hart. I don't have a doubt in my mind that Owen should be inducted like his brother. Do you believe that WWE will wait until WrestleMania 25 (2009) to induct Owen, since it is the tenth anniversary of his death, or would they have to try and convince Martha and family to accept it first?

The first point I want to make, and it will be very unpopular with some, is that comparing Owen Hart's career to Bret Hart's is ridiculous.  Owen was a very good upper midcarder that had a few main event runs.  Bret was the top star of the company for a long run and is one of the most well known wrestlers internationally that WWE has ever pushed. That said, looking at some of the others who have been inducted into the Hall Of Fame, Owen certainly should be included.  However, given Martha Hart's feelings towards WWE, I think it would be asking for a lot of trouble to induct Owen against his wife's wishes.
