Wrestlemania will be at Ford Field on Apr 1 and I have a concern. With all the top faces in the main events and at least two other top stars involved in the Trump v. McMahon match, how will they use guys like Booker, Kennedy, Chavo, Umaga, Orton, Edge, Khali and all the other directionless heels (not to mention the tag teams). Obviously having heel v. heel matches will not be as interesting and though I love the idea of having the 4 way ladder match at Mania, that would downplay any Money in the Bank variation. Any ideas?
At the time I am answering this, No Way Out has yet to take place, so keep that in mind when reading the answer. To me the most important stars for WWE to position going into Wrestlemania are Edge, Randy Orton, Umaga, Johnny Nitro, Carlito, Ken Kennedy and MVP. Those are the stars that WWE, whether you agree or not, will be building on as the future of the company, and Wrestlemania is the best place to get them going on the right path. To me, the key is to match them up with the already established talent, like Jeff Hardy, Chris Benoit, King Booker and others so that, win or lose, the younger talent puts in good performances and has a chance to work on the "big stage" with someone who has experience. While I wouldn't mind seeing another Money In The Bank match, I do hope WWE avoids doing too many multi-man matches on the show, since those bouts rarely provide the opportunity for a wrestler to really stand out.
I have a question concerning the Undertaker. I have been a fan of his for a long time, and have nothing but respect for him considering all he's done for the business, and being that he seems to be a stand-up guy and puts business first. Having said that, isn't it a bit disrespectful that he never is seen at certain events that honors wrestlers ( i.e, Hall of Fame ceremony, "10 bell salute" to fallen wrestlers on TV)? Certainly he has earned the right to show up where and when he wants, but doesn't that go a little beyond protecting his character and become disrespectful?
Actually, I think Undertaker not appearing on camera for the ten bell salutes is respectful. When you think about it, Undertaker's character is based around the "aura of death", so showing him during a segment based around a real death would be somewhat tasteless.
Why did they change "Marcus Cor Von's" hometown from "The Animal Kingdom" to Detroit? I understand he's from Saginaw, MI which isn't more than an hour or 2 from Detroit, but does it have anything to do with Wrestlemania being in Detroit this year?
I don't think it has anything to do with Wrestlemania's location. The decision has been made to get away from the animal connotations to his character, so they've dropped the animal print trunks, the "Animal Kingdom" location, and aren't calling his shoulderblock the "pounce". Obviously, given that they changed the spelling of his name between his first and second appearances, WWE put him out there before they had really decided what to do with his character.
OK, is Vince wearing a piece or is it that Hair Club For Men thing where it’s real but not real? I remember when Sy Sperling, the President (and also a client) of Hair Club For Men was a “celebrity†at WrestleMania. Any connection?
Honestly, I've heard jokes for years that Vince's hair isn't real. To be honest, I don't know the truth. If it is a weave or hair plugs or some sort of hair restoration, it looks pretty good. I doubt it is a toupee, since we've seen him wrestle and not have it come off. Then again, if anyone could afford an immoveable hairpiece, it is Vince.
Do you think as I do that Double J and Dixie Carter feel it was a mistake hiring Vince Russo for The TNA Creative? I mean I love TNA and I really want it to succeed. But I hate Vince Russo's antics. For a company who is supposed to be about wrestling he is turning off us die hard TNA fans. Your thoughts?
If Dixie and Jeff feel it was a mistake, they obviously aren't acting that way, since last I heard, Vince Russo is still writing the shows with Jarrett and Dutch Mantel. Personally, I have not been a fan of the creative direction in recent months, and obviously you agree with me. Given how low TNA morale has been lately, some of the wrestlers feel that way as well. Still, I thought last week's episode of Impact was a little better (unfortunately, the rating got butchered by Raw), so I'm willing to let Russo and company try to straighten out their path before calling for the guillotine. However, there's only so much time that TNA will have to make the change before fans start giving up on the company.
