PWINSIDER Q&A: HOGAN-WWE RIFT A WORK?, FORMER XPW STARS IN WSX, CHRISTY HEMME, WWE'S HYPE MACHINE & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-02-13 12:17:00

I was gazing across the WWE website where one of the headlines stated that the eight man tag during Thursday's Raw would be the most "star studded in history" obviously its not since there's been better 8 man tags than this one. Last time I checked MVP was no more than a midcarder and Mr. Kennedy just moved to potential main event status. Why does WWE promotes matches as the best in history when its not? There's got to be a different way.

It's just WWE's way of marketing a match and trying to promote everything to maximum effect.  While I can understand why it would seem overkill to some, if there's one thing WWE does right it's promoting themselves.

Can you tell me the name of the female ringside photographer with the black hair that always appeared in a lot of NWA  Jim Crockett and WCW events in the late 80's into the 90's and is she still working today, if so, where?

I believe you are referring to Linda Roufa, who handled photography for a lot of the Japanese magazines.  I haven't seen her in years, so I would assume she is working for other entities.

Have you heard, or do you know if any of the former XPW guys like Supreme,
Pogo the Clown, Homeless Jimmy, Angel or Mexico's Most Wanted have an
opportunity to get into WSX or have they been approached at all? Also, is
there any chance to Chris Hamrick, New Jack and Justin Credible coming back?

I haven't heard of any of those names being brought back at this time.  I believe of the former ECW talents that appeared on the pilot, Credible is most likely to return.

Why is Christy Hemme fighting for women's rights in TNA when it seems like TNA has no problem with letting Kim and Jaqueline wrestle in a mixed tag match?
Am I making sense here?

That's one of the logical loopholes in TNA's booking right now.  Unfortunately, it's just one of the things we'll have to deal with under the Vince Russo creative team regime. I don't see what Hemme vs. Fat, Oily Guy does for anyone but that's just me.

I read the recent recap of Hogan on Bubba and also listened to Mike's hotline. Being at Mania 23 is in Detroit and it's at Ford Field and 20 years since Hogan/Andre, what are the odds that Hogan not being at Mania is a work? 60,000 seats is a heck of a lot of tickets to sell. I know they will probably paper some of the crowd, but not having Hogan has to hurt ticket sales and PPV buys. I just can't imagine Hogan not being at Mania 23.

At this point, it's not a work.  WWE and Hogan have indeed had a falling out.  As I said on my hotline, while at this point I don't expect he'll be involved at Wrestlemania, I hardly think it will be the end of the Hogan-Vince McMahon roller coaster.  Until the day Hogan signs with another company or launches his own, there's always a chance he'll return.  Regarding Mania tickets, the show will sell out on name brand recognition alone and nothing else.
