PWINSIDER Q&A: HULK HOGAN'S WWE STATUS, IVAN KOLOFF, GREAT MUTA IN RING OF HONOR & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-02-11 10:59:00

I was looking on www.Highspots.com to see if there were any good Keji Muto DVD's or say a best of Keji Muto DVD and I had a couple of questions looking at his only American appearance a couple of years ago and  I had a couple of questions about ROH Final Battle 2003 The Ring of Honor vs. All Japan event. First of all is the event any good and second is the match between The Great Muta & Arashi vs. Christopher Daniels & Dan Maff (All Japan Tag Team Title Match) any good?

I was actually in attendance at that event live and remember it being a really strong show.  I don't think the Muta tag was an off the charts appearance but it was fun and in front of a rabid crowd that respected and knew what they were watching as opposed to a talent being out there before fans that could care less about someone's international reputation.

While watching the Armageddon PPV 4 way ladder match I noticed that it took several replays to show what really happened to Joey Mercury which at first looked like the ladder went "up his nose." I know that the WWE camera's don't always catch everything, but did the WWE have a different director in the truck since that was around the time the WWE went to Iraq?

No, but you have to remember that the injury obviously wasn't a planned spot, so it's not like they could have been in the perfect position for it.  They likely made the call to show the replays on the spot.  I would assume Kevin Dunn was directing the event.  WWE wasn't in Iraq at the time of the PPV.

I've heard Ivan Koloff has released a book but I haven't seen it in any of my local book stores.  Where can I order it?

You can find out information on Koloff's book at www.1wrestlinglegends.com.

What is the deal with Hulk Hogan and Wrestlemania 23?  I don't buy for a second he won't be there.

As I reported a few days ago in the audio section of www.PWInsiderElite.com, World Wrestling Entertainment made the call to yank Hogan from the Wrestlemania 23 card.  There's been underlying heat on him since he tricked WWE office worker Ann Russo to reveal the WWE Hall of Fame candidates on the air on Bubba the Love Sponge's radio show without her knowledge.  Hogan is absolutely on the outs and of course things can always change, but the working plan is to use another talent in the Donald Trump storyline.

I see you have photos from the toy fair up on the site.  Does PWInsider.com get press passes to the event?  How does that work?

The photos that appeared on the site earlier in the week were courtesy of our good friends at www.ringsidecollectibles.com, who are one of our advertising partners.  Since they are the top online retailer when it comes to wrestling action figures, obviously they have access to such events.
