Isn't Cena vs. Taker or Cena vs. Michaels or Batista vs. Taker disasters waiting to happen? Not from a wrestling sense but from a fan reaction sense. Against Taker/Michaels won't Cena/Batista get verbally buried?
I'm sure WWE has thought about fan reaction in putting together these matches, and yes, there is definitely a chance that Cena and Batista will not have as much crowd support as their opponents, but to me, that is part of the fun of these matches. Also, we're just starting the build to Wrestlemania, so they could run angles to turn Cena, Michaels or Batista into more of the "heel" in their match. I don't mention Undertaker there, because I just don't see any chance of Undertaker being booed against Batista. Taker is definitely going to be the crowd favorite for that match. In the case of Cena, I think he has won over a lot of fans with his recent performances, so he might not be as favored as Michaels by the crowd, but I think he will hold his own.
Will Bruno Sammartino ever be elected to the Hall of Fame? In my opinion in his prime, he could out wrestle any of the current and older wrestlers. It's really up to Bruno, to be honest. WWE has reached out to him in the past about it, but Bruno feels that accepting an induction to the Hall Of Fame would be hypocritical given the way he feels about Vince McMahon and the WWE product. There's no doubt he belongs in there, and in the eyes of many, it isn't "really a Hall Of Fame" without him.
I have been watching TNA for about 4 months now. And think it is doing ok. But the one thing that I do not like about TNA is that the former WWE Superstars are saying bad things about WWE. Why is that?
TNA seems to really enjoy having former WWE wrestlers blast their old company on TV. Honestly, I don't think much is accomplished by doing it. I'd much rather hear Kurt Angle, Rhino and others tell me why I should be watching them in TNA, not complaining about their time in WWE.
Ok, I just saw ECW on Friday (I live in Canada eh) and after watching the RVD vs. Holly and Test vs. Lashley matches, I gotta say the heels really didn't look like they were putting any effort into...well any of it, I noticed it more coming from Holly, do you think that because everyone just hates ECW, that the ECW locker room is not feeling like there's a point in giving us 100%?
I really don't think that is the case, as the wrestlers should be happy just to be on television, considering the number of their colleagues who get no TV time at all. Certainly, a lot of people have questioned Test's ability, as he certainly wasn't a good choice to work with Lashley, who is still green and needs to be working with opponents that can help him learn. Holly seems to run hot and cold, as I thought the match with RVD was solid, while his match with Lashley this week put me to sleep. However, Holly has been with WWE forever, and obviously has his fans within the company.
What do you guys think of the idea of having the royal rumble draw on TV a few weeks before the event? I mean, they can have a thing whereby the GM or whoever gets to draw a number or two, so that each show has an empty slot that can be used for a surprise entrant, or can be used in storylines (such as giving wrestlers an opportunity for a higher number/punishment with a lower number). The draw could be a genuine one that creative books the rumble around, or the draw can be faked, whatever. Do you think that would build anticipation for the rumble, or would knowing the order of wrestlers somewhat spoil the show?
I don't like the idea of knowing the order of the wrestlers, however I do think there are ways WWE can "shake things up" with the build to the Royal Rumble. For example, a "mini-Rumble" on each brand where the respective winners will get to choose their numbers from amongst 15-30 only, thus giving them an advantage. Another idea I liked, which was only done once, was where two randomly drawn entrants wrestle in a singles match, with the winner getting #30, and the loser getting #1.
