PWINSIDER Q & A: TURNING EDGE FACE, THE TNA-NWA CONNECTION, MONTY BROWN IN ECW, KHALI-HOGAN AND MORE

Do you think it is possible that Khali was put on Raw so that Hogan could show up for the Wrestlemania III re-enactment? 

As we reported on the Elite section of the site the week that it happened, that is exactly why he was put on Raw.  If Big Show can't wrestle at Mania, the working plan right now is to have Hogan wrestle Khali to play off of the "rematch of Hogan vs. Andre The Giant" theme of Mania 3 in Detroit.  

Why would WWE put Monty Brown on ECW when there is already someone with such a similar style and look, in Bobby Lashley? Wouldn't it have made more sense to put him on Raw or Smackdown to establish his own identity with the WWE fans rather than being seen by WWE fans as a Lashley ripoff?

WWE wants to build him up as a top challenger to Lashley.  If they didn't put guys who were similar to other guys already on brands there because of how they looked and wrestled, they wouldn't have slots for a lot of guys on their roster.  I actually think it makes more sense to put Brown on ECW because it will give him a place to gain experience, which he needs because even though he's in his mid-thirties he hasn't worked that much in his career, and develop in front of a smaller audience.  The fact is that ECW draws less than half the rating that Raw or Smackdown does.  Brown should being working and developing at this point.  He can always be moved to Raw or Smackdown at a later date.  

Does it upset you that WWE continues to have their World Championship be a "spinner" and essentially just an accessory? It doesn't even seem of importance in the WWE anymore. In TNA, the guys want to be World Champion. And do you think the WWE will ever bring back their original World title? (Probably when, and if, Cena ever loses?)

Upset me?  Not at all.  Bad creative upsets me.  The title belt?  Well given how they have booked the strap in the past, I lost the feeling to have to respect it a long time ago.  Steve Austin made it a prop, why shouldn't John Cena?  The title is still the focal point of Raw so I don't know what you mean about guys not wanting it.  I am sure at some time in the future, they will ditch the spinner but right now, they sell a lot of replicas, and that is the bottom line.

Has TNA stopped using the NWA name, even though they still have both the NWA world and tag team titles? Will they ever have TNA champions?

TNA dropped the NWA part from their name a while back because, well, they just didn't need to use it.  The NWA is really a largely extinct organization at this point and TNA decided that their name actually meant more than that of a dinosaur in the business and they dropped it.  They did, however, want to keep the history and lineage of the NWA titles and signed a 10 year deal at the time to use the championships.  So, they will continue to use the NWA titles for the foreseeable future. 

Do you believe WWE would turn Edge face this year, with his turn on Randy Orton, and then do a cutting edge on Vince McMahon?

To me, Edge is the best heel on Raw, in a walk.  It makes no sense to turn him now when they have no one to take his place.  Plus, he is just such a great heel that I wouldn't want to see him play face again right now.  Down the road, sure, I could see them turning him but for now, it makes no sense to do so.
