Through the elite hotline, you guys have been throwing around the idea of HBK vs. Cena for the main event at Wrestlemania 23. Now, I agree that that match could be good, since no matter what Cena will be at Wrestlemania in the main event, but don't you think him winning AGAIN is just too much? I mean, it's his third consecutive Wrestlemania main event. If that was a different guy, Triple H for example, you'd hear from everyone and their uncle how much he's being crammed down our throats and how its the same old s***, yet you still consider it a good idea for Shawn Michaels to give Cena the rub? Don't you think like a guy like Edge, CM Punk, Johnny Nitro or Carlito should have their time to shine? Or maybe guys like Undertaker, King Booker, Benoit, or Kane have earned a shot at that?
For starters, I don't consider Cena's 11-minute win over JBL at Wrestlemania 21 to truly be a "main event", even though WWE would like for us to consider the two title matches at Wrestlemania to be on the same level. When we're discussing the Wrestlemania main event, we're being realists. I'm hardly Cena's biggest fan, but it is obvious that no other babyface is at the level where they can headline Wrestlemania. You're not going to be able to elevate Punk, Carlito or Nitro fast enough for them to be seen as deserving of the Wrestlemania main event this year. I would have no problem with Edge being in the main event, and if WWE hadn't had so many Cena vs. Edge matches, I would have been fine with that as a main event. Edge vs. Michaels would be great too, but we've been watching them wrestle every other week in tag matches, so it isn't fresh. The bottom line is that Cena is the only babyface that can be taken seriously in the main event of Wrestlemania right now, with the exception of Michaels and possibly Undertaker.
What's with all this talk lately of giving someone the "ultimate rub" (as Buck puts it)? This time last year (and years before) you guys were saying Undertaker would NEVER be beaten at Wrestlemania, and now all of a sudden there's talk of him losing to maybe John Cena? Do you feel Cena is someone who honestly should have that title of being the only guy to beat Undertaker at Wrestlemania? I can think of a few more guys that should be thought of before Cena.
I still feel Undertaker should never be beaten at Wrestlemania. The reason the topic of Cena getting the "ultimate rub" has come up is because of the rumors of Batista facing Undertaker. IF WWE is going to book Batista vs. Undertaker, and IF WWE is considering having Undertaker lose to Batista, then I feel WWE is making a mistake. That is when the "If Taker is going to give someone the rub, it should be Cena, not Batista" topic comes from.
With all the cuts WWE did, how does Nick Dinsmore..(Eugene) keep his job. You think a guy they hardly ever use on TV would get cut. They were turning him heel for a little bit, but it seems that's ended.
WWE obviously sees a future for Eugene with the company. I feel Dinsmore is a talented performer and deserving of a spot in the company. It isn't his fault that WWE has done a HORRIBLE job with him in terms of character development.
With the numerous release throughout January, are there any of these wrestlers you think would be a good fit in TNA? I would like to see Sylvester Terkay show up to feud with Angle and possibly Samoa Joe. Those would be some hard hitting matches, plus Terkay has a history with Angle. Joe could play up anger at Terkay for inserting himself between he and Angle. Do you think there would be any long-term viability for Terkay in TNA?
I definitely think Terkay had more potential than we saw in WWE, and would like to see him work with Angle, Samoa Joe, Abyss or Rhino in TNA. However, I think it is far more likely that Terkay will head back to Japan, where he had a pretty good career going as The Predator before coming to WWE.
I just watched this week's Impact and saw Christy Hemme complaining about women's roles in wrestling and how she wouldn't lay down at the "other" company, so she got fired. Now pardon me if I am using my common sense but Hemme got I believe 250,000 dollars, an instant spot on TV, and was pushed pretty well and she is complaining???? Does TNA not know this or hope we forget it? Plus the fact that she has been in the company for a while and we are just hearing her women's lib stuff???? Am I missing something?
Nope, you're not missing a thing. Christy Hemme, who won a glorified beauty pageant to get into wrestling, was on Wrestlemania after less than a year in the business, made a ton of cash posing for Playboy, and has basically been getting paid in TNA to tell us what is coming up after the commercial, has suddenly (as in instant change) become angry at the portrayal of women in wrestling. You haven't missed a thing. It is just the nature of TNA booking lately to rewrite a person's character with little explanation (see AJ Styles' heel turn for another example).
