PWINSIDER Q & A: VINCE MCMAHON'S DERRIERE, HOGAN AT MANIA, INSENSITIVE JBL, PPV FEEDBACK, WWE ON SATELLITE AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2006-12-18 10:00:00

What's up with JBL's commentary during Vito's match on Smackdown this week? Besides making the anti-gay comments, he said something about just getting back from Iraq and wishing that he brought explosives with him so he could blow up the ring and "we'd be better for it". I can understand the role of a heel announcer and all, but that's a little insensitive.

Is this the first time you have paid attention to JBL?  This is a guy who, as a wrestler, did the Nazi salute in Germany because he thought it would get heel heat, totally ignoring how insensitive it was to do it in that country.  He's a guy who shoots on heels that he doesn't like, even though it goes against what his job as a commentator calls for him to do, because he doesn't personally like them.  His backstage behavior towards guys he doesn't like or respect is legendary, and not in a good way.  In essence, he's a guy who thinks he can do anything that he wants because he is a Vince McMahon acolyte and in the end, he's probably right because he continues to get away with it.

I have an idea to prevent fans from being screwed out their money so Sundays like December 3 wont happen again. On the following Monday, you could post something on your site that can let fans know whether it's worth purchasing the replay or not without having to read any reports to "spoil" the viewing experience. Some fans like me would like to watch without knowing who won or what happened. Maybe you could rate it ( scale of 1-10), do a thumbs up or down, or some other type of instant way to let fans know know whether to buy the replay or not without giving the results away. Could this be feasible or am I too dumb to notice you'll already doing it?

We already do polls like that on the site for the fans to give their opinions.  Also, we do audio after the shows on our Elite site where we talk about whether the show was worth getting or not before we actually get into the matches.  So, we have that covered in two places already.

I just wanted your opinion on something. What's with this Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass cartoon they have going on wwe.com? Like... I can't even comprehend how someone above the age of eight can come up with garbage like this. I wanted to watch the newest one just to see how bad it was. I fully intended to watch the whole thing but found I literally couldn't. I was so disgusted with Vince's ass farting out Shakespeare I had to turn it off. Is Vince trying to market the WWE to five year old boys because this cartoon obviously isn't appealing to anyone else.

I can't comprehend it either, especially when you are talking about a multi-millionaire that is the head of a publicly traded company.  As for why Vince does it, there's two reasons.  One is that he genuinely thinks that it's funny.  The other is that he thinks that the fans legitimately want to see it.  I can't say I agree with him on either count.  But, Vince's sense of humor has always gravitated towards the crude and juvenile.

If Big Show is out of the running, is there another opponent for Hulk Hogan at WM 23 (possibly Umaga or ? With tickets selling out even with business being down, do they even need or want a Hogan match ?

Last I heard, everyone is working under the impression that Show will do the PPV.  He and Hogan are great friends and the company wants to have the "Hogan vs. The Giant, 20 years later" vibe to the show.  If Show can't work it, all I know for sure is whoever they put in the bout would have to be willing to do the job to Hogan because he will have creative control over his match.  And, don't believe any of the things he has said recently about going to TNA. It's all just posturing by the Hulkster.

Do you think that the WWE should/will ever get their own channel on Sirius Satellite Radio or XM Radio? If they do you think that it would be a good move for them, it could be a way to get storylines over and free promotion?

Honestly, I don't see what the point would be.  I can't see many people listening to non-stop WWE storyline radio.  Maybe I am wrong, but I just don't see it being popular.  Wrestling on TV is one thing.  Wrestling on the radio is quite another.

I also don't see many people signing up to listen to the station, so there wouldn't be much, if any, money in it for WWE.  On top of that, everyone in the company works a very full schedule so I don't see the top guys having time to spend on the project.  I think if it were to ever happen, it would end very quickly because WWE just doesn't have enough to offer a full radio channel.
