Was Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant's match at Wrestlemania 4 the last time they faced each other one on one?
Actually, they had three singles matches following that bout, all in 1988. There was the "Wrestlefest" Steel Cage match, which was released on home video, and two non-televised matches, one in Greensboro, North Carolina, and their final singles match, which was on October 23rd in Atlanta, Georgia at the Omni, which Hogan won via disqualification. The last two matches were done because WWF was "invading" NWA towns promoted by Jim Crockett, so they used their biggest possible draw (Hogan vs. Andre) to try and help pull in fans.
How come Finlay is such a lock for comeback of the year? I think Rob Van Dam for one should also be considered for the award. He has had many good matches and has been successful since returning with only the one down spot. I still think Finlay as of now deserves the award but I don't think its a runaway.
Considering that Finlay suffered an injury that took feeling out of part of his leg, and has been mostly inactive for four years, then not only came back, but is now considered one of the best workers in the company and is one of the top stars on Smackdown, is more than enough to make him a favorite for Comeback Of The Year. Rob Van Dam certainly did come back from injury to have some high profile matches, but I don't see him competing with Finlay or Hardcore Holly, who also has to be seen as a favorite in the category. Sting, Jeff Hardy, Sabu and The Sandman will also probably get more votes than RVD.
I remember you reporting that when Tazz went from SmackDown! to ECW when the third brand restarted this year, it was partly due to some personal problems between Tazz and Michael Cole. I'm not interested in exactly what these problems were, since it's their business, but how long were they going on? Watching the No Way Out 2006 DVD it seems they are taking shots at each other on commentary a lot, more than they would be if it was friendly banter between broadcast partners.
I can't pinpoint exactly when the relationship went sour, and at one point the two were obviously very good friends. However, I can say that both were reportedly very happy to be split up and given new broadcast partners. What the issue was between them, no one seems to know, or if they know, they're not telling.
I have one very important question. Whatever happened to Brody's cafe? Next to the Dory Funk column, it was far and away the most interesting read on the site.Howard Brody, who penned the column, hasn't sent any in. Brody had other responsibilities, and much like Tod Gordon, just doesn't have the time to keep up with a column on a regular basis.
All of the sites I have visited have the new ECW World Heavyweight Championship along the same lineage of the old ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Do you think it is right to have the 2 acting as the same title even though the ECW's are completely different?Do I think it is right? Not really. Am I surprised? Nope. WWE purchased ECW's history, and the championships, so they are well within their rights to act as if their ECW World Title is the continuation of the original ECW World Title, even though the organization isn't the same as it used to be.
